I think there is a lot of truth to what is stated there. ABX are not "the" solution for Lyme.

Hi,

Maybe it is one reason why there are so many relapses and tenacious ones at that once people stop antibiotics.

It is interesting that he says there definitely is a time and place for antibiotics. I wonder if what he says is true for other bacterial infections: bacterial meningitis, tuberculosis, leprosy, syphillis, etc.

I wish the article was more indepth.

I do know several people that are in remission or cured from oral ABX for lyme but they were not as sick as I was.

I agree with the article that ABX are not the quote "CURE" for chronic lyme. That is why I have:

CatsClaw
GB4000
Artimisini
Salt/C
ozone Water
and might buy a another part of the Beck protocol

I will do these things to reach 100% health in a certan combination, right now I am doing oral ABX to get the bacteria load down.

My goal is to reach consistent feeling of 80% and then I will start adding in all of these but for know I am have to pulse small doses of ABX because my load is sooooo high.

14 years without abx's and towards the last 5 years joint pain and some fevers that probaly would have killed most people.

Then getting on abx's and a lot less joint pain and no high fevers like use to have I vote abx's -

And down with artical. -

One of the problems with this for and against kind of article is the the writer usually brings an pre-established point of view to the situation, so what looks like a sober assessment is not.
MD, ND, PhD, they all come to the table with years of bias.
My own view is that after about four years of Lyme infection, no one knows what's going on.
Most of these professional people would rather die than admit they don't know.

I think he ought to have disclosed the following:

A. he is a chiropractor not an MD, not a real doctor!!

B. that he makes money from selling alternative Lyme txs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do agree that some of the disclosures mentioned above should have been made. That said, I do agree in general with the position of the author.

I think it's a valid theory, but I wouldn't hold it as truth until proven. Very worth trying, considering the goal is to 'health', regardless of what approach works for you as an individual.

Agreed. Abx DO have a time and place and do INDEED rid co-infections, lowering the pathogen load your already over-stressed immune system can handle.

However, they do NOT work to destroy Bb.

That is my goal...find out a way to DESTROY Bb. Not merely alter our immune response which is, IMO...playing with fire.

This pathogen is very, very, very unique.

How many other pathogens do you know that have a cell wall form, a cell wall deficient form, AND a very, very hard to rid, cyst form?

Geeze Louise...Calif. do you have ANY idea how many years chiropractors go to school POST their undergraduate college degrees?

FIVE!!! That is 5 years post 4 years of "regular" college! 4+5 =9.

MORE than a MD...normally 4+4 = 8. Then residency (2) only if they so choose.

Chiropractors are INDEED doctors...doctors of chiropractic medicine. It is far more than "adjustments"!

You infer that they are not as intelligent.

I would like to point out to you the number of absolutely brilliant persons who had much less than that amt. of "education"!

""It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education." Einstein.

P.S. Today...doctors are being taught by textbooks that promote Rx drugs...this symptom= this drug. If you think I am not telling the truth...ask a med student to show you!

Marnie, my name is Sarah, not Louise*)!

Years, years, years ago, when I was young and hale and hearty, I worked 3 jobs at one time, one of which was being the purchasing agent of a drug & alcohol rehabilitation facility where I was a DUI clerk and also in training to do payroll- and being the purchasing agent with no sidekick I had the honor of carrying lots of heavy boxes every day (and being stubborn and a feminist, never asked for help). In short, I soon became in need of a chiropractor!

Thank heavens for chiropractors!!! I like them!

I actually went to a chiropractor for years and consider them valuable professionals- but they are NOT MDs!!! It is apples and oranges!!!!!!

They really helped my back!!!! Thank you oh chiropractors in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a back ache every day back then until I began going- and it really worked, really helped!

Would I go to a chiropractor for Lyme disease????????

Heck no!!!!

Heck heck heck heck heck HECK no!!!!!!!

What's more Marnie, I don't think you would either!!!!!!!!!!! If I am wrong, let me know!

Take care all*)!!!!!!!
Best wishes,
Sarah

Well if you eat chicken or beef, you are getting

Antibiotics every day whether you want to or not.

Maybe that contributes to the resistence of certain bacteria.

I am not opposed to herbal remedies/solutions, but I also vote for antibiotics.

Hugs,

Geneal

My chiropractor's office has an ozone sauna.

So, yes INDEED I would visit my chiro's office if I had lyme!

Adjustments to C2 have been found to "cure" ADHD.

While working for a drug and rehab. facility, did you pick up on the neurotransmitters out of whack in alcoholism?

It is NOT just serotonin. It is dopamine too.

Too much dopamine = NO brakes. They found this when giving Parkinson's patients too much L-dopa.
They became compulsive gamblers. NO INHIBITION.
Happy-go-lucky.

Drink alcohol...happy...drink more...SAD, cry. Serotonin plummets.

In a manner of speaking, a obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Stress...cortisol up...take a drink...be happy...then be sad...HPA axis is off. Serine is not phosphorylated.

I would also, if I had lyme, consider Reiki. I understand it helps to rebalance the tyrosine-tryptophan imbalance via releasing Mg.

Here's part of an old file:

A quantal perceptive model of brain function has been postulated by several groups.

Reiki-like healing practices in seizure disorder

(ILAE classification - II E - generalized seizures - tonic clonic), involving transfer of life force or low level of electromagnetic force (EMF) from the healer to the recipient patient, may act via quantal perceptive mechanisms.

Increased synthesis of an endogenous membrane Na+-K+ ATPase inhibitor digoxin and a related tyrosine / tryptophan transport defect has been demonstrated in refractory seizure disorder (ILAE classification - II E - generalized seizures - tonic clonic).

Reiki-like healing practices in refractory epilepsy results in a reduction in seizure frequency.

Reiki-like healing practices produce membrane stabilization and stimulation of membrane Na+-K+ ATPase activity by quantal perception of low levels of EMF.

***The consequent intracellular hypermagnesemia inhibits HMG CoA reductase activity and digoxin synthesis resulting in the alteration of the neutral amino acid transport (tryptophan / tyrosine) defect. ***

A hypothalamic digoxin-mediated quantal perception model of brain function is proposed. The phenomena of biological transmutation and consequent hypermagnesemia occurring in the resultant neuronal quantal state is also discussed.

How to cite this article:Kumar RA, Kurup PA. Changes in the isoprenoid pathway with transcendental meditation and Reiki healing practices in seizure disorder . Neurol India 2003;51:211-214

Keep an open mind about "alternative" therapies. There do appear to be reasons WHY these work.

I do keep an open mind re alternative treatments-

I think Artemisia is a gift from God (or whatever higher power you believe in)

I think acupuncture does incredible things for the body and is a wonderful, effective adjunctive therapy to abx-

As for ozone- some locals are trying it- I basically let other people be guinea pigs*)!

If it works, great. SO far, no successes re
ozonated water locally-

Never heard of Reiki re Lyme- doesn't mean it won't work-

Best wishes to all,
Sarah

Abx saved my kids, my husband, and my life. I don't think I would be where I am today without them.

And also I don't think I would be where I am today without all the herbs and supplements I take either.

I really think they BOTH play a role in healing.

And not everything is going to work exactly the same for every person, we are all different, and have different strains of infection not mentioning co-infection. What works for one may not work for another.

My humble opinion,
Lisi
