Hi. I'm wondering if anyone has noticed that their Lyme (or babs) symptoms flare up or recur when they also have a cold. Or do you think you experience more severe cold symptoms (like excessive fatigue) because your immune system is already taxed by the Lyme?
Thank you. C

3 of us with Lyme but not in the same household had the stomach flu this winter: we all noticed what felt like a return or flare-up of Lyme symptoms while we were ill, which made us even more unhappy.

Yes I have noticed this! You will also get a minor flare with low pressure systems, an airplane ride, scuba diving, menses and the full moon (no kidding).
I know that anything that will tax your system will cause you a flare up. All of these will cause you one and the worst of them all is STRESS.

Thank you so much. My kids gave me a nasty cold and I felt some symptoms recur and it was making me afraid I was losing some of the progress I've made.

This happened to a client of mine. He had made great strides then one sunday morning his son brings him to my house literally set back about a year in progress.
I assured him that he would be fine if he just treated the cause of the flare up aggressively. Which he did. His LLMD gave him an Rx for a one month supply of antibiotics targeting the "strep throat"
Within a month his gains returned with no futher intervention. Amazing! I spoke with him yesterday, he is doing great. No antibiotics for some time now...
He does admit that he still has lyme but he can live with it.
Be strong.

Doc J uses this as part of his protocol to determine if a child still is infected- they have to have no symptoms for 3 months and to have made it through a flu or cold without flaring!!!!!!!! Before he takes them off abx-

in the last few years other then my Lyme symptoms I have not had any type of cold or flu or even the symptoms of it....I think my imune system is in overdrive. I use to get 2/3 colds a year but its been at least 2 years since i've had one...I think i'd rather have the cold and flu rather then the lyme symptoms

I saw this thread, but hadn't had a cold ... I caught one Monday, and so did my husband and daughter. They had annoying symptoms, I've been in bed all week and had a fever for three days.
The only difference between all of us is my Lyme Disease. It must be either a flare or a worsening of the cold symptoms because of the Lyme.
I'm sure the fever stirred things up, too. It was over 100 for at least 24 hours, and at least 99 for a few days.
That's great info about Dr. J.
