He talked about removing ticks today and about all the diseases they cause. It was short be he stated how serious it was.

I caught the tail end of the show, so I missed the bit about ticks. Actually , as we all know, they could do a whole show about Lyme Disease.

I was at a PA primary voting area and handing out Lyme Literature. One of the voters made a point of coming over to me to tell me about the Dr. Oz segment of the show.
Will cross my fingers that it leads to a longer program very soon.

Looks like he's giving ILADS-ish numbers????
"Dr. Oz says ticks are one of the leading carriers of diseases in the United States, causing tens of thousands of people to contract Lyme disease each year."

Maybe we should contact Dr.Oz like we have tried to do with Oprah. Maybe he is more receptive, and can be someone to bring up the issue in a public forum. He seems like a man of conscience from everything I have seen of him. He is also open to alternative health care, and has people do reiki on his heart patients.

I wonder if Oprah would find more to talk about with Under Our Skin. She could talk to the producer, some of the people in the documentary (Amy Tan), etc. Maybe this would give her a better format and also maybe the documentary could get the money it needs so it can be released.

Its funny I saw the show today too, and I though Oprah mad a mockery of tick bites and thought that the whole idea of removing the tick from sombody's rear was funny...like a joke...I was very upset at her reation...
Dr. Oz I agree although did not elaborate on the subject seem to recognize its seriousness...Must be nice to be oprah and not have to worry about a tick bite....

Well Oprah hikes in Maui (or so she says) and I do not know if there are ticks there but she also lives in S. Calif. and has many dogs so she better keep her tick karma clean or it could be her *** the next tick gets removed from.

She has a house in CA and one in CT. I think she needs to worry a bit.
Thank goodness Dr Oz said it was BAD, BAD, BAD to put anything on the tick to get it to come out or release its grip!!!!!
I just received that BOGUS email again recently about putting soap on the tick.
AAAARRRRRGGGGHHH!!!!
People keep circulating that ^%$#$!!!!

You would think out of all the people Oprah knows and has interviewed that one of them would have LD and would educate her on the subject.
She has interviewed Amy Tan before I think if I remember correctly????
I like Oprah but sometimes she is politically stupid like pushing Red with Bono. I boycott Banana Republic because they abuse labor over and over again and the family that owns them cuts down old growth redwoods as well.
Oprah wants us all to shop there to help the people in Africa with with HIV by buying the Red products.
I am all for helping the Africans but not into doing it by abusing labor in other parts of the world.
Hey Bono and Oprah why not get one of your herd/team of worker bees to research these companies you jump in bed with first to make sure they treat people like humans? Just an idea....

Doesn't Dr. Oz have a radio show on XM satellite radio? I wonder if it would be worth it to try and contact him through the radio show, since we haven't had any luck going through the Oprah show. Hmmmm....

I saw the show. The topic of Lyme was rather casually addressed. Though, it caught my attention and, I was so glad it was even mentioned.
BUT.....I cringed when Dr. Oz siad "Lymes". Ugh! I want him to research this, talk about it and, learn to say it correctly.
I, for one, will send him an email. (Not that he will ever read it). He could be a great ally.

so you guys have contacted Oprah on Lyme for help?
What about Montell?? I know he has MS... but as
I have been reading, people with dx of MS should
be checked for Lyme. I wonder if he knows of that, and all the complications that go along with it?
He seems like a real philathropist, he may be a good one to get the word out for us.
I think contacted Dr. OZ would be a great idea.
Does anyone have any ideas how to go about doing all of this?

Yes and last week when Sylvia Browne was on there, a lady in the audience asked her how she could help her with her Lyme Disease. Sylvia told her to eat high proteins and write down her experiences.

I just mailed a packet to Montell, which included a lot of stuff I got off here, but no names or anything from any of us. But I included Cave's post about camp a vs camp b, and the investigation on Dr Hoffman and some about Dr Jones.

I used to like Oprah, but she now seems overly emotional and confused at times. She is still making lots of money.
A while back, she had Bill O'Reilly on a show dealing with sexual predators of children. Oprah seemed like putty in Bill's hands.
She is spending a huge amount of money on a school for a relatively small number of girls in Africa. It may be a first class experiment, but seems extravagant considering the overall needs there.
I see Rosie as becoming the type of champion who could help us. She is probably on a fast track of learning about the powers that opress people. If she understood the truth about the situation those with Lyme disease are in, I think she would help.

Rosie has her own blog and I am sure she would be open to anyone posting over there.

I TOTALLY agree with everyone; trivializing the problem only adds to it. It's no joke; I wish people were less ignorant.

Sorry to disagree about Rosie. Years ago, when she had her own show, she used to have different people (audience members/everyday people) open the show.
A local teenage girl had cancer, and her Make-A-Wish request was that she would like to open the Rosie Show. Her request was denied.
Rosie said that she thought it would be "distracting" to have someone with cancer as the show opener. (Heaven forbid should we have to be distracted by a teenage girl with a bald head!)
I know it seems petty, but I have never forgotten how disappointed that teenage girl was when Rosie denied the request from Make-A-Wish. So . . . I could never agree to having Rosie as my representative.

Ouch Lou...I never knew that about Rosie...that's just aweful to deny a child her dying wish! And it wasn't like she was asking for anything outrageous
