Another question. Sorry to be so predictable. Recently I switched from Rocephin 2 g x 7 days /wk, to 4g x 4 days/week. I'm in the third day off and have noticed a lot of mind racing and memory symptoms (while off Rocephin and Tindazole).
The mind racing feels like you are thinking about something then something else unrelated, then something else, and so on very quickly without much conscious ability to control. Also it makes it kind of hard to sleep and gives me (more) memory problems. I haven't had this symptom (or at least not so intense) for a long time.
Has anyone else had this? If you think it is related to a particular medication or infection I'd appreciate any opinions. And of course if anyone knows a way to numb it.
On a totally unrelated subject one of my TAs mentioned a story about a "guy who had three phds, got liver problems and all of a sudden didn't even know what a phone was" so I just thought that was weird since a lot of people have a somewhat lessened version of those symptoms.
Thank-you all,
john duncan

I get the mind racing. This is a scary symptom for me. I feel like I have no control over my
mind. It almost feels like your going crazy! I think it is just lyme related, but maybe
coinfection. I have a hard time figuring what symptom goes with what illness. I am being treated for Babs too, so maybe related to that??

As far as "the guy who got liver problems and didn't know what a phone was"
It's called hepatic encephalopathy. My best friend who is taking care of me right now was just diagnosed with it. It's from a malfunctioning liver causing an enormous buildup of ammonia in the body. When the level gets very high, it causes dementia. There is a drug to remove excess ammonia from the body that helps.
I've never head of it connected to Lyme...

sorry to hear others have this terrible problem, this is a huge huge problem for me without taking any antibiotics! i cant control my mind at all and so many thoughts racing and coming at me all at once! and it definately keeps me from trying to concentrate on any reading or even paying attention to a t.v. program, and keeps me from sleeping, i must have paper and pen with me at all times because i am constantly writing! and my problem is that the thoughts keep repeating over and over until i unload or tell them. i so wish there was a pill for this, other than just killing the bugs, wish i had some helpful advice, but just wanted you to know you are not alone, i have lyme and babesia, take care radha

I have this also.
Had it before treatment. But didn't put the term "mind racing" to it until I was charting symptoms after Mepron/Zith/Art treatment began.
