Hi,
I had yet another person tell me recently: "you look good". Ok then, I wish I felt as good as I must look. Soooooo, what is Lyme SUPPOSED to look like?

I could go around stooped over, limping (well sometimes I do when I'm in pain) with an "I'm dying" look on my face. Would people take this disease seriously then?

Oh well. Just in a "mood" and venting.

That's funny sickandtired - I actually LOOK sick. I remember when the ducks were telling me to see a psychiatrist because I "wasn't sick" and I had sweat pouring off me, I had black rings under my eyes, and I fell to the floor every time I tried to walk.

That was four years ago, but to this day, my husband tells me I look terrible. I have a grayish tinge to my face when it's not beet-red, dark circles under my eyes, and a heavy limp. My hair is turning gray, too.

I look in the mirror and I think I look like h@%%. Still, people tell me all the time how great I look! I think they're saying it to keep my feelings from being hurt, bless 'em.

I noticed on the website for the Open Eye film that they have a group of people who were interviewed. To me, everyone on there looks like they feel like crap.

So, if you look closely, the misery - it's in there and it shows!

I'm wondering if people's conception of what healthy looks like is just messed up. I see plenty of "healthy" people who don't look especially healthy.

People say I don't look sick, but generally they only see me on days I can walk without getting too dizzy or on days I'm not too tired to hold my head up. The people at Church or my family who see me no matter how I feel can definately tell my good days from my bad.

Well my 10 year old boy still looks really healthy. Even when he's herxing and had severe leg weakness and cannot walk. But as he says, leg weakness doesn't hurt as much as his headache and tummyache.

Today he's on fine form. After seeing him run around for 3 hours at sports club it's difficult to imagine he's got this chronic disease.

I just try and enjoy the good moments and think positively about the future.

That's why I have a Lyme Awareness site with a slideshow called Faces Of Lyme. So people can see that us Lymers don't LOOK sick. Even though

when I look in the mirror I see rings under my eyes, and I lost weight, and I now have a pimply rash on my face I used to not have... But

others always say, but you look great. I guess hair in a pony tail with no makeup and sweats everyday is looking great!!
