So heres the situation (my first lyme treatment since initial antibiotics many years ago)
Started Zithromax (600 mg)on April 23
added Fluconazole on April 30 (200 mg once per week)
added flagyl on May 16 (200mg twice per day for 7 days a month)
took flagyl from May 16 - May 22
The (hmmm how should i say this) frequent trips to the toilet started May 16 and have continued everyday since
May 24 (yesterday) - met with my doctor and he recommended probiotics (Theralac)(not sure why he waited so long)
yesterday - i order theralac
today - stomach problems intensify highlighted by me getting a temporary gut
today - i run (u think im kidding) to gnc and get a probiotic (Acidophilus) to get something in my stomach
today - my doctors office is closed and he did not return my call (thanks doc)
right now - since about noon i have committed myself to room temperature water, rice and applesauce and my stomach has calmed down a little bit but is still rumbling (civil war!)
my question (finally)......Do you think im still experiencing side fx from flagyl from even though the last day of the cycle was Tuesday?
And, should i cut out the zithromax for a few days until the theralac comes?
I understand Flagyl/zithromax have intense side effects but at the same time i dont want to destroy my stomach. i have a friend who was treated with a full year of heavy doses of antibiotics for his prostate many years ago and know he is on a liquid diet due to candida (not fun!)

jersey, so sorry to read about your civil war going on. due to the hour it is, since you asked me to read this, i'm going to offer these comments ok!
1st edit topic line, click on PENCIL icon that opens up topic line AND text body contents. change it to ZITHRO/FLAGYL; stomach bad! need immediate HELP! click EDIT SEND when done.
now those up at this time will know what you are talking about, and can help you IF they have been on them ok.
zithro, never been on!
FLAGYL; BAD NEWS FOR ME! severe herx causing many problems to me even on here as i typed! seeing lights, dizzy, can't remember about stomach .
got off FLAGYL IMMEDIATELY. **************************
was on duclafan/same generic as you for maybe 20 months....no effects of that on me.
before taking ALL these meds,, did you have a lot of gas, diarrhea, constipatioon where you were in bathroom most of day?
if YES, you might have gluten/celia disease ... allergic to wheat products or casein--cow's milk products .... me on both!
you'd need food alergy testing on about 100 items.
so i'd discontinue RICE if that is an offender since that's WHEAT!
i think a lot of it as AFTER EFFECTS OF FLAGYL
have you started a SYMPTOM JOURNAL; start it if you haven't; show your symptoms, so you can see where they begin/end, etc. helpful down the road.
i wish yu feeling better later today! my best advise; sorry i couldn't help more except hold your hand right now and give you these!

Did you have GI issues before introducing the meds? Perhaps the infection is concentrated there and this is a strong die-off, which could be a good thing. But maybe just too much too soon?
I agree with Betty's suggestions about diet. Not even sure about the apple sauce. Perhaps some steamed (til very soft, like a congee consistency) veggies, like cauliflower. Or cook it in some healthy chicken broth with some sea salt. If tolerated, you might even add some garlic or garlic juice to the broth. This was soothing to me when I had my civil war-like GI issues. Also, water with some added liquid minerals to replace anything that might be lost could be helpful. Sea salt has some minerals in it, too. Wish I had more suggestions.
Hopefully your LLMD will have some answers.

You are definently on some powerful ABX and at really high doses as well! I wish I could take that much ABX without getting knocked to the floor in dying pain

You need to go on the yeast diet for the duration of your abx treatment and take BIG doses of probiotics until your stomach regains equilibrium.
I posted on a thread not long ago about which probiotics are good and how much I have taken. Here's a link (my post is about 8 replies down the thread):
Theralac is a good product, I hear, though I've done nicely with stuff I get at Whole Foods and the Vitamin Shoppe. I find mail-order places often take too long to deliver and I CANNOT be without my good bacteria.

thank you for your responses i feel a lot better today!
A few questions.....is there anyway i can tell if my stomach side effects are due to bb killing or something more serious like candida?........I mean i could live with having diarrea and "rumbling tummy" for six months straight (and even a gut once in a while) if i knew i was just killing bb
I am taking Maitake-D fraction to boost my immune system but can that be dangerous on abx since mushrooms may feed yeast?
thanks again!

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."
Five Steps to Candida Elimination:
1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.
2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]
3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]
4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]
5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

I would call your doc, and possibly stop the zithromax for a few days. Are you having diarrhea? How much? You should have been taking probiotics from the beginning of treatment. Try yogurt too. You can take more than 1 theralac too, and you might want to try VSL # 3, and Florastor. If the diarrhea does not stop get a c.difficile stool test. Flagyl treats it, but the zithromax makes it worse, and on it's own macrolides like zithromax speed up intestinal motility.
