anyone tryed growth hormone amino acid activators? I think I've gotten rid of most active infections, I was afraid to try stuff like this before, but the hgh stuff might be good in active infection (??)

The amino acids which are supposed to stimulate more human growth hormone production are L-arginine (or arginine), lysine, orinthine, glysine, and possibly triptophane (sp?). Amino acids that are commonly used in combo with these by body builders and anti-agers are GABA and glutamine.

Does this actually work?

Dhea, a hormone that is a precurser to testostrone and estrogens is sometimes added- like 5mg or less, and ginseng is commonly added as a balancer and enhancer of some of the above.

Anyone had any experience with this route?

BTW... Ginseng is not recommended by Chinese herbalists when a "hot" infection is present, so I didn't dare use it before. However, I just found out it tends to inhibit cortisol- an anti-inflamitory steriod. Maybe it IS safe with an active lyme infection. I don't know. It seems to be doing me some good right now as a balancer. I'm much calmer...

The l-arginine seems to be giving me a slight headache.

Yes, I've tried a couple of those amino hGH precursor produts, and all I have to show for it is an empty wallet. The bottom line is that experts agree the only way to increase hGH is by injection.

Klutzo,

Do you remember which ones you tryed and for how long? They say you have to do them in conjunction with each other and vitamins. And you have to take them by the grams- not the 500mg doses. They also say you don't see any improvements for at least 2 months.

When hubby first got sick and was undiagnosed he had really bad gastritis and lost 30 pounds in 3 or 4 months. One physician did several 24 hour urine adrenal hormone tests from AAL Lab. Hubby had lots of low numbers -- growth hormone was almost nonexistant.

Hubby took many different amino acids in different combos. Had very little luck balancing hormones. Think the gastritis was at least part of the problem. Tried the amino acid route for probably 6 months.

We finally just gave up on balancing hormones and hubby just continued taking what we felt were the most critical supplements. Has not had hormone levels retested in about 3 years.

The main thing hubby has continued to take is DHEA at 50 mg or more. This is one of the master hormones. If the liver is functioning normally then DHEA can be converted to various other hormones.

Hubby also takes 5HTP/l-tryptophan in a compounded prescription. This is for sleep.

caat,
Sorry, it was a LONG time ago, and I do not remember, but I tried two of the most expensive and highly touted brands.....maybe if you give me names, I would recognize them? I know one of them began with the letter "G".

I did take doses that were pretty high, but can't remember how much anymore, and I took them for 3 months each.

The science on this issue is overwhelming. Do some reading for yourself before spending lots of dough. If it does work for you, please let us know!

Regards,

Klutzo
