So I posted last week about starting flagyl, unrelated to treatment for lyme. I'm on day 4, taking 500mg twice daily.
I've read many horror stories, but some of you convinced me it may not be so bad since it's different for everyone.
Well, I'm freaking out folks. The very next day after taking it, my fibro symptoms increased, I had weird ear/head pain, and the WORST abdominal pain. I can tolerate all that because it has subsided and I'm sure I was herxing.
BUT....
My anxiety is a NIGHTMARE. I feel like I'm having a panic attack 24/7. My heartbeat is fast for no reason sometimes, I'm having dreadful thoughts, I have the jitters like I've never had before. I feel as if I'm going crazy. Xanax doesn't even work very well.
So...part of herxing? Or the flagyl? I hope this means those nasty buggies are dying, but in the meantime, I feel like dying.

I have had a herx like that to other antibiotics like zithromax. I'm sure it's a herx and you probably should back off on the dose by alot and then work your way back up.

Sounds like a bart herx. If the symptoms get to bad call your llmd and possible pulse the meds.

I had a similiar herx using tetracycline. I wasn't using it for lyme and I didn't know it was a herx at the time.
It was awful. I never had pain like that before. The worst for me though was the severe anxiety. I was in full blown panic...24/7..the day after I started taking it.
Are you positive for Bartonella? Please be sure to let your LLMD know this.
