I am trying Tramadol HCL 50 mg for pain since the one I was on is hard on you.

When I take the Tramadol on the third day of it I start getting sick to me stomach. I almost feel as though I could vomit. I only took one a day.

Does anyonw know if this is something you have to work through and it gets better with time ?

Been on it, up to 400mg/day, for about 8 years. It helps me as much or more than the Fentanyl patch and oxycontin without as many side-effects. Did get sick the 1st time I took it, but not since. Supposed to be one of the best medications for neuropathic pain.

I am a bit concerned about seizures with ultram/tramadol so I try to limit it now to about 200 mg/day.

Good luck.

sick,

My LLMD prescribed tramadol to me for the searing pain I'd get in my knee.

When I took it at first, I got severely nauseated with vomiting. No matter how I tried to take it, that happened.

When I talked to my LLMD about it, I discovered there are actually two formulations of tramadol -- whatever it was I was initially taking and a second, called Tramadol with Tylenol.

For some reason, when I took that second formula (with Tylenol), I had no nausea at all. Also, that tramadol with Tylenol makes me feel much less druggy than the other formula. So I still take it periodically, like tonight, when the pain flares up.

Hope this helps!

Andie

Tramadol made me queasy but it took most pain away. The nausea was worth it to me..

I take tramadol also for pain. My spouse (who is not dxed with LD) has taken tramadol for several years now. He started off with Ultracet(?) which I understand to have 'tylenol' in it. The Ultram is straight tramadol. Neither one of these causes me any nausea, but have you tried eating something fairly substantial just before you take the tramadol?

After many different experiences with pain meds, tramadol is the one that has helped me live with pain for over 4 yrs.

I didn't recall being sick stomach wise in the beginning. I do take them with a meal. What I love about tramadol is if I have pain free day, then I don't do them and do not worry about addiction.
