This is my third day into Mepron. Sicker than a dog. Nausea. Can't move. Breathing hard and crying. Herx? Sweating. What can I do? Says 5mls per day 2xs daily. help me. skooch

I've never taken mepron, but I have done malarone.
With a babs herx I had all you described and more.
However, to be safe you should call your LLMD and speak to him/her about how you are feeling.
You also may want to bump down the dosage...until you are feeling better.
Remember, slow and steady wins the race.
You don't get any bonus points for herxing so bad you end up in the hospital.
Drink plenty of water, detox as you go and make sure you are taking your probiotics/supplements.
Babs herxes are horrible.
My LLMD allows 25mg of benadryl elixer up to 4 times daily during a herx.

Yes, let your llmd know......maybe you need to cut back and build up the dosage but your llmd can direct you.

Yeah, my daughter had hallucinations, intense pain, and depression. She backed off a little bit and worked back up.
Call your doc. Hopefully, he'll tell you to take it slow.

Sounds exactly like a babs herx.
I took malarone, and had those effects too. Malarone has the same active ingredient as mepron.
Good advice above; call your llmd and together consider cutting back the dose until the effects are manageable.
You will feel better when you get past these babs herxes, they are the worst! Hang in there, get lots of rest if possible.

I had exactly the same it was absolutly terrible, it WILL NOT LAST. I could not breath, cried continuously and became very paranoid, it laster approx 7 days. Contact you LLMD but personally I feel its a bad Babs Herx - I really sypathise with you but it will get better.

Geneal - Just wondering why your LLMD told you to take 25 mgs. Benadryl elixir 4x's day when you had a herx?
What is it for and what did it do? I thought Benadryl was an antihistamine. Thanks.

That is a really good question.
I am not sure why he told me to take benadryl elixer....I've seen here that it can interfere with
Absorbtion of meds.....or maybe that was the point of it.
I can tell you I've only done this a time or two and for some reason it made me feel better.
He also recommends a herx diet.
No potatos No tomatoes No Eggplant or green peppers
No spices except salt and pepper.
My LLMD has a backround in allergies and such.
I'll have to ask him why on the benadryl when I see him next.
I know benadryl is used in some mild Parkinson's cases, as an anti-nausea medicine, and kind of suppresses the CNS....
It is also used as a sleep aid....Maybe my LLMD just wanted me to sleep my herx away.
Wish he tell that to my 4 and 5 year olds.

I read (from Dr. B, I think) that Babs herxes tend to come around the 4th day, and the 4th week. That is absolutely what happened to me. And it wasn't until 2 days after I stopped the Mepron/zith that I suddenly felt MUCH better.

aren't the herxes supposed to end before you quit treatment?
Doesn't it meen that you're still infected with babesia if you herx when taking babesia medication?
I've see a lot of places that it's adviced to take the meds for 4 months to avoid relapses..
Have you got a relapse shazdancer? How long is it since you quite the meds?
