So I went to bed early at 8p and when hubby came to bed at 12am I woke up and talked to him for a minute or two.
Then he fell asleep and I was still awake, I heard my daughter say in a whisper, "mommy I need you I can't sleep ". I heard it 2 times clear as day. I start talking to my daughter and I go to get up and no one was there!
I got up and checked on my 2 kids and they were sound asleep.
This happened to me when I had severe Post Partum Depression a lot.
I don't think my mental status is as bas as it was then (since I wanted to commit suicide then, but went to er instead because of my babies, but that is a whole story in itself)
I was in a lot of pain and actually had to wake up in the middle of the night 3am to take 2 vicodin in addition to the 1 I took before bed. That is really weird for me.
I know that this is because I am sick with Lyme. Can anybody shed some light on this? Is it going to get worse? Thanks, Melissa

My temperature was only 100 degrees so it wasn't a really bad fever.

I've had visual hallucinations, auditory hallucinations and even some other very interesting happenings. Since being treated for lyme and babesia, these phenomona are almost non existent. In fact I know when I am in bed and am hallucination and I say to myself....I can't believe I'm seeing this. I usually just sit back and enjoy it. As long as you are being treated I wouldn't worry too much

Merrygirl- How long have you been using Vicodin? Is the amount you took more than usual for you?
And.........
Even if your mental status isn't as bad as when you had PPD, it is possible that this is a sign that you could be deteriorating....for whatever reason, Lyme related or not. I assume you were put on anti-depressants and/or anti-psychs...are you still taking them?
Have you been at the same dosage for a long time? A very severe PPD episode can alter a brain's chemistry for life so it is important to continue treatment especially if psychotic features return.
Talk to your LLMD if you have one or your psychiatrist about seeing a Lyme-sensitive Neuropsychiatrist.
As for the possibility of delirium...We all know that us Lymies' don't always have "normal" immuno responses. It is possible that you are suffering from delirium even with a temp of only 100F.
Have you had any labs done recently? Do you have any signs of a UTI? UTIs are notorious for causing delirium with little or no fever at all and UTIs are common secondary infections caused by anti-biotics.
Good luck and keep us posted!

I have been on Zoloft for about 8 weeks after being off for a few months. I started the Zoloft right before my Lyme started to kick my a$$ 6 weeks ago. Maybe the depression was the first sign.
I just recently upped ,my dose from 100 to 150mg about 7 days ago because I am more depressed and anxious.
I have been on as much as 200 mg before.
My vicodin (w/tylenol) RX is for 1-2 tablets every 6 hours as needed. I have small kids 20 months and 5 years old, so I do not take any until Bedtime or when hubby gets home (or when I get the crazy headaches), and I usually take 2 and (sometimes 0.5 mg Xanax at bedtime).
I have been taking the vicodin this way for 6 weeks or so, so I know I am not overdoing it. I also do not want to be dependant on narcotics.
Last night I only took 1 before bed and 0.5 mg Xanax, so it was less.
No UTI signs that are unusual for me. Just had a ua and culture not sure of results. I also had other labwork done C6, blood cultures some other stuff I don't recall. My doc has been on vaca most of the time since being on ABX for 2 weeks, so I haven't been able to really get ahold of him. Covering doc is soooooo bad.
I called today so Hopefully I will get called back. I have an appt with my doc on Thurs. For the record he is not considered an llmd just revered ID. He is highly respected and reccomended by everyone. He has been pretty good to me so far but I have put in a call to a real llmd.
Where do I find a Neuropsychiatrist? I am not seeing anyone now. I HATE counseling/Therapy it makes me worse.
I also Have twitching, a real bad headache in the front of my head and involves my eyes, I feel dazed all of the time. I had to bring my kids to the doc today and almost crashed 3 times, once almost into a school bus! No more driving for me. This is NOT on narcotics.
I have the feeling like a knife is stuck in my neck and in between my eyes. Giant Lymphnodes, my voice is hoarse, I feel like I could collapse at any moment and very dizzy! That is just some of how I feel. I have had a temp for 6 weeks now. No lower than 99.5 no higher than 101.9 regardless of 2 weeks of ABX, 6 weeks of NSAIDS, and or tylenol. I never used to get fevers at all. It doesn't make sense to me to have any fever on ABX and NSAIDs.
I don't say the right words and I don't know what I went into a room for. My vision is weird too. I am doing random strange things. I had an empty tortilla bag I meant to throw away, but instead I wrapped a sick of butter in it and put it in the fridge. I am all messed up. My daughter who is 5 also corrects me or is confused by what I say sometimes.
I am intelligent and have medical knowledge from being a vet tech. I feel like I have brain damage and can barely function.
I look the same on the outside except for the dark circles, but inside I feel like I am dying. I know my doc has tested me for lyme and coinfections before and were neg5 months ago. Not sure if he did the coinfections this time. I feel like something is wrong.
Sorry for such a long post but I am very distressed and worried. My gut says something is very wrong. Even if I get a hold of LLMD today it will be a significant wait.
you guys are the only people who know how I feel. My family knows I am sick, but I don't look sick. I jsut need help and have no idea what to do! Any advice appreciated. AGGGGGGGHHHHHH! Melissa

Melissa, I am living through almost the exact same thing except I don't run a temp but I do have night sweats.
What is your ABX and dose? Any run of the mill infection should be responding to them by now. FIND THE RESULTS OF THE BLOOD CULTURES!!! What you are describing sounds partly like delirium. It's good that you called the doc today, it appears that your condition is worsening.
The cognitive difficulties you are experiencing can be attributed to Lyme, infection or depression. I know...I was once emptying the dishwasher by putting the dishes in the fridgerator! I do stuff like that alot. The ONLY time I cleared up was week #2 of Doxy but I fogged over again when it was finished. Obviously, I need more ABX but have to wait until I have the ducks convinced as I cannot see a LLMD. I can't afford it.
I mentioned a Neuropsychiatrist because they deal with psychiatric/cognitive difficulties caused by physiological illnesses. Don't worry, they are not the "therapy" type. They can help figure out where the mood disorder and cognitive difficulties are coming from and can guide physicians in treatment of those causes. I see one in 2 months for testing. I work with Neuropsychs and psychs because I am a Psych nurse.
Your Zoloft probably isn't the cause of any of this but you might want to consider changing to a different med before you need more Zoloft. Zoloft isn't the best med for people with neuropsych issues as it can make them worse especially at high doses. Have you tried Seroquel? If you don't want to go that far, consider Paxil or Cymbalta. Stay away from Effexor.
I had the horrendous headaches, too about a year ago. Only time, IV Dilaudid and occipital nerve blocks ( done by a migraine specialist) helped. What you are describing sounds like rebound headaches caused by daily pain reliever use...sorry to say. True migraines occur on one side of the head.
A headache in the middle of the forehead (Apex) along with daily pain med use spells rebound headache. That is why the hydrocodone/APAP helps. I use the same thing and have to be wary of rebounds.
If anyone offers you steroids to stop the headaches say "NO"! Steroids will worsen the Lyme!!!! Ask your doc for a shot of Demoral or Toradol and refrain from the Vicodin for a few days. It'll be hard but it is the only thing that stops rebounds. IT also might be caused by the low-grade fevers or the infection itself.
To sum it all up- You should be responding to the antibiotics by now!! You aren't, you might have delirium. If the doc won't see you today, go to the ER. Tell them how long you have had this infection and temp and that you are hallucinating at night. You should be given IV antibiotics. Be weary about mentioning Lyme unless you are sure they have to hear it.
I'd like to write but my Lymie arthritic, spastic arm is about to fall off. Sorry.....

Ok.....What part of mental health is not good? If hubby can take the kids, take a Xanax and do some deep breathing. Remove yourself from any stressors. If hubby is unavailable, call friends or family to watch them while you at least calm down and can think.
Are there any other contributory symptoms? What's your temp? How's your head?

Hey Melissa, I left a message on the other thread. I hope you're hanging in there.
As for this thread...
I was about to post and say I had those same auditory hallucinations. Someone calling me, sometimes it's been someone I know and sometimes not. I have had my mom calling me to help her from the other room to find she's fast asleep or reading a book.
I also get pots and pans clanging, (these things only happen in a near sleep state, I don't know why.)
I'll check your other post and hope you're alright and all goes well at the doc's tomorrow.
PM me if you want to chat, alright?

It sounds like you are having auditory hallucinations and other major neurological symptoms from Lyme disease.
I had those symptoms too. It can be rough clearing them.
Make sure your doctor puts you on antibiotics that penetrate the blood brain barrier.
Also, anything you do to improve blood circulation and oxygenation of the head and the brain may help your symptoms. They did mine.
I got cranialsacral work done on my head. I used herbs and nutritional supplements that improved blood circulation and that penetrated the blood brain barrier.
When I was feeling up to it, I engaged in mild physical activity. I wore caps and hats to keep my head warm. The disease seems to gravitate to places where we get chilled.
I had my husband give me deep scalp massages with essential oils. It hurt and my head felt like a big bruise but I felt much better afterwards and my neuro symptoms would lift rather rapidly.
