My ND who uses a lot of chinese medicine gave me a couple of chinese herbal formulas for the co-infections yesterday (I probably have mycoplasma) and boom, I got anxiety, insomnia and restlessness. Didnt sleep much last night and now I feel quite anxious, nervous and shaky.
I wonder what happened. Did the herbs start killing bugs right away in the brain and cause these symptoms? Can that stuff really be that powerful and quick? I though it would take like weeks to notice anything. Any experiences?
Maybe no-one has even heard about these products but the formulas are "Astragalus 16" and "Scrophularia 12".
Thanks
BF

I posted in the Buhner yahoogroup the other day that I often get an initial 'increased energy' response when I start a new herb. It dies down after a few days. B-12 did the same thing- initial too-much-coffee type of a "high" which eventually went away with continued use.
In my case, this can manifest as mild insomnia and 'pro-stress' (ie I want to do lots of work and check things off my 'to-do' list) for me. For others with psychological manifestations of Lyme, I suspect it would look like anxiety (which I happen to not be prone to).
Or something could be wrong, this is just my experience. Several different herbs have done this. I think if you're taking astragalus it could be a temporary energy-booster even without Lyme.

Astragalus is generally only used in stage I Lyme, since it stimulates the entire immune system. It is usually not recomended for late stage Lyme (see Buhner's book).
I can have neuro reactions within 1-2 hours of increasing my dosage of Samento, including Lyme rages, increased pain to the point of almost not being able to straighten up and walk, and insomnia.

In my experience, it certainly can. It can be either a herx or an allergic reaction?
What are the herbs you are on?

Sorry, I just saw now... Astragalus, yes, I've been taking on and off. I never notice anything directly too fast though. But from andrographis, yes.
Buhner recommends astragalus at any new reinfection.
I have been recently reinfected. I do muscle tests, and it's testing great now. But I had taken it during my old infection too, depending on what tests what.
I would also be careful with herbal mixes, unless muscle tested, as many lyme sufferers react with allergies or intolerances.

Are these the formulas you're taking, from Seven Forest?
