Has anyone had a problem with EDTA Chelation Therapy or Hydrogen Peroxide IV Therapy? I am not diagnosed with Lyme yet but think it is a possibility.

I had an EDTA/DMSA chelation challenge test in January and had some high metal levels---lead being the highest. I started EDTA chelation and had 11 (2 a week) of them under my belt when I did a Hydrogen Peroxide IV.

The first of Feb. I started feeling real bad and progressively got worse---like a bad flu, aching all over, terrible muscle spasms in my neck and upper back, chills, tingling/chill sensations extremities, even, scalp.

At times my arms or legs would feel like it had a tourniquet on them too tight---that tingle/numb sensation. I was extremely exhausted and got to where I could barely care for myself.

I ended up in the hospital the middle of March and felt toxic. Had episodes of high blood pressure. I'd feel a pressure/surge sensation in my body, heart pounding and intense warm sensation across my chest. My pressure spiked to 212/130 with one of these episodes.

I have been disabled since 1999 and initially diagnosed with CFS. 2 yrs later Addison's Disease
and then Growth Hormone Deficiency. I also have Hereditary Hemochromotosis which is an iron metabolism disorder----- my body absorbs too much iron. Beware!! taking Vit C increases absorption of iron. I was put on mega doses for the CFS diagnosis.

I am wondering if the chelation/peroxide caused a major herx reaction. Maybe the peroxide killed off too many bacteria at once and overloaded my system? Have any of you experienced this with a herx?

I have an appt Aug. 1st with a LLD. I've always been one of those people that attracts pestilance and have had a few ticks on me over the years as well as chigger bites.

I still feel pretty bad and and stay exhausted. Lots of lyme symptoms. When I push myself to run short errands---like getting groceries in the house I come home feeling much worse. No problems lately with high B/P.

Basically you guys I am just real tired with life. I'm in a real spiritual void right now and don't know how much more I can take. I hope I am not disappointed by another Dr. Liz

I haven't had IV peroxide--not available in my city or I would definitely try.

I haven't tried IV EDTA, but I have some calcium EDTA suppositories that I'm going to try when I have a a better handle on detoxing. The suppositories are recommended by a famous detox doc, and I hear they can be purchased for as low as $3.

I would not recommend the Hydrogen pyroxide and I've never heard of the 1st thing. You are taking a great risk with your health by putting that poison in your body, IMO.

Why are you bent on doing all this unusual treatments when you haven't even tried abx, and you don't even know if you have Lyme?

I would suggest seeing a doctor who will test for Lyme.

Hydrogen Peroxide is very good for it's ability to kill just about any/everything! I have a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and he has had great success with it on a couple lyme patients he had but he mostly treats Cancer and so far not one death! [Big Grin]

I agree with others though... go ABX, Herbs, or Heat Therapy first.... There are prob. over 20 different ways to treat this disease, just gotta put together the right combo

EDTA chelation has been around for years and is used to treat lead poisoning. It removes heavy metals from the body. Hydrogen Peroxide has also been around for years but is not mainstream and I am to the point of DESPERATE.

I had the ELISA in 1999 when I got real sick and was told I didn't have Lyme. When I kept getting worse, gettting down to 98lbs., felt horrible every single day and could barely function I was finally diagnosed with Hemochromotosis and then 5 mos later Addison's Disease. Starting on cortisol did help with the weight and the horrible hang-over/brain fog.

Still felt awful but thought when I got my iron levels down(they do this by drawing off blood) I would feel bettter. This took 18 months of a phlebotomy every 2 wks. This was a horrible year and a half but, thought I would get better.

Well, still extremely fatigued and felt bad so pursued other endocrinological things also, had another negative ELISA. Flew to L.A. to an Enocrinologist who researches CFS, treats Addison's and he eventually diagnosed Growth Hormone deficincy. So I start on that and wait to get better. Still feel like poo and no energy/stamina and a lot of neuro symptoms.

It's been frustrating having a lot of symptoms remain and very easy for Dr's to blame it on exisiting diseases. The neuro symptoms are worse and the feel bad daily is still with me. Plus the event that put me in the hospital tells me something is still wrong.

I began researching Lyme and came across this board and did not know about the unreliability of the ELISA so now I will see Dr #22 a LLD and hope he will help.

Susan, I don't know about the EDTA Supp. but EDTA takes the good stuff out of our body too and you need to supplement---calcium, magnesium etc. Research it well before you do it. Liz

I have had 40 rounds of IV EDTA prior to getting a diagnosis/ treatment plan for Lyme.

Yes, it does STIR THINGS UP! There were times that I was sick from it, having herx type reactions. Before realizing it may have been Lyme, I thought it was the metal pull...which can induce illness. Now, I feel it was a combination of both.

Getting my heavy metal load down is a priority for me! Especially AFTER I learned about its contribution to the Lyme Disease.

I treated for Lyme with IV abx for 6 motnhs, now herbs and other alternative treatments which has been very successful.

I am back to chelation, doing IV DMPS. At this point, the mercury issue is SEVERE and needs to be addressed.

Many people who have Lyme and its co-infections also harbor metals and viruses like Epstein Barr.

You can do a search on this site...in my opinion and that of my LLMD, minimizing the metals, co-infections, viruses and parasites ALL PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE in fully recovering from this illness.
