My new llmd has had me on 3000 mgs per day of amoxicillin for a month. We just got my recent igenex results and they weren't very positive for lyme this time, but they were in 05.

He wants to add Diflucan and Artemisinin. The artemisinin is for suspected babs...

How does this sound to you guys and gals??

Thanks Rich

I would do a search on Artemesia and artemisinin(here on Lymenet) before taking it. I don't want to give you a biased opinion because my experience was a near death experience that I'm just now beginning to come out of after 4.5 months. Just read what everyone says about it and make your own decision.

If you have babs, I would have it treated first. I'm being treated for babs, my blood tests were negative, but I was clinically diagnosed based on symptoms.

I'm on art and have had no problems with it, but it's not enough to get rid of babs on its own.

UP

I did search on both google and lymenet for info before this post but I could only skim through for so long before being fogged out.

I drove around for an hour the other day trying to remember where I was supposed to be going, luckily I wasn't lost just didn't remember the errond I was running so I went home...

I first went to an llmd who put me on 3000 mg day (3g/day) of amoxicillin.

It helped a little bit (also started Buhner herbs at that time), but I still had major neuro symptoms.

Switched doctors, and was put on higher-dose amoxicillin. I am now taking 10.5g/day amoxy, half in the morning and half at night. That has been far more effective for me for lyme symptoms. Yes, that is over 3x the amount that you are taking.

I also found amoxy best taken twice/day, so that there is time to take probiotics in-between.

At that dosage, it seems that amoxicillin goes into the CSF, part of the blood-brain barrier.

Art itself does not sound like the best treatment for babs, IMO. I take malarone for babs and that has seemed effective for me, though side effects have not always been pleasant.

I am taking artimisini and having no problems here either...

My oriental medicine doctor who specializes in herbs said this herb is good for treating babesia but not good enough, it needs other herbs with it to completely wipe it out...
