I have been off of my ABX, i.v. rocephin for 1 week now and as of yesterday I started to get much, much worse.
I am running a fever again, low grade 100, but nonetheless a fever. My head hurts so bad, with burning on the top of my head and pain in upper left and around left eye and cheek bone as well as a stiff neck.
My feet are so sore it hurts to walk as well as both legs. I also have sharp pain in the muscles in my arms.
In the past I have done better when off ABX, for awhile. Not this time.
I do not have an appt with my llmd until July 9th and I dont think I can wait that long to be seen. I am taking vicodin for pain, but it is not doing anything!!
The pressure in my head is so bad, it feels like the beginning of the menengitits again. I also have been sweating profusely. I would blame it on the weather but I was in the house, in bed today, in the a.c. and still dripping in sweat.
I think my GP would give me an ABX to take until I see Dr. C. He is always willing to work along side my llmd. But I dont know which one I should ask for. I also need something different for the nerve pain and headaches, because what I have is not working.
Please give me some advise, I am really feeling sick. I am even crying right now.
Thanks
Sandra

Please call you LLMD and tell him/her you need help ASAP!
I've been told that if one has major symptoms shortly after going off abx it is likely caused by a co-infection.
Hope you feel better soon.

I called my GP to try to get in with him today, I couldnt stop crying when I was talking to the nurse. I feel like such a big baby. But then again I know that I am really sick or I wouldnt be crying. I am waiting for the clinic to call me back (my doc's schedule full)
Yeah i think you guys are right, I will try my llmd too!! Maybe he can at least call me GP.
I feel exactly like I did last month before I started I.V., and I had viral menengitis. I was in the hospital for a week and found out I had lyme again.
I have not been tested for co-infection. I will ask Dr. C. next month to do that. THis sweating stuff is bad.
Could it be my body getting rid of toxins??
I dont know, but I have to go lay down. I cant sit up anymore. My head is throbbing so bad
Thanks, Sandra

My GP just called me back and he doesnt know what to do. He said he could give me some Doxy and neurontin, but that takes time to work to releive pain. He suggested I go back to the Hosptial/ER and have them call him. He is worried about the fever again and headache/stiff neck
So. I guess I will be going back in to e.r. to deal with dr. that dont know much about Lyme. Its sooo frustrating
I did call Dr. C office but they are closed today.

an update for those of you who suggested I see a dr right away
I talked to both my PCP and LLMD and both advised me to go to the hospital. They both suggested to rule out menengitis and or anything else they could have missed.
I went, had another LP done. Slightly elevated, but not sure if it is residual from last month or a new viral infection.
One cool thing,, all three DRs. agreed on how to treat. PCP, LLMD and ER DR.
Sent me home with Doxy, enough to last until I see my LLMD. Neurotin for nerve pain in my legs, etc. Diladed for pain, and something for anxiety.
If my fever gets higher or my symptoms get worse I am to go back to ER and they will admit me for further testing.
I am feeling pretty loopy right now, but not crying anymore. Still have headache but not as bad.
Thanks for your concern and advise to call and go the DR a.s.a.p.

How did they diagnose your viral meningitis?
Reading your post - holy cow - I think you're my twin. How do you get rid of viral meningitis anyway?
I am the same way - sweating profusely. My sweats usually decrease once the sun goes down - at least lately. Once the birds start chirping in the morning, I'm sweating again.

tailz- they do a spinal tap and test the fluid for an increased rate of inflamation.
I have had so many now, that it barely bothers me.
The sweating is not from menengitis!!! I have had it 4 times and this sweating didnt happen before.
I just started the sweating thing, and I am literally dripping sweat.
Other people have suggested it could be babs or bart. I am not sure which one.
I am not sure how I get menengitis, it is a virus though. I have asked many doctors that same question and they just tell me that it is sometimes a symptom of lyme. Or that people with lyme can get this.
Possibly means I have more ketes in my CNS. I dont know.
I wish someone had the answer to that one too!! Posts: 73 | From phoenix, az | Registered: May 2005
