Hello, I have been in treatment 4.5 months and was just about to start treatment for bartonella (at my request). My LLMD suspects babs but is ok with treating bart, since he thinks I have that too. I have no positive co-infections tests, have done FISH twice and several of the antibody tests (erlichia, babs, bart, myco, etc). These were both before I started, and during, treatment.
I'm not so sure I have babesia, due to the fact that I don't seem to have some "classic" symptoms I've seen on this board, plus the fact that 4 months of 500 mg Zith combined with pulsing 1000 mg artemisinin 4 days on/3 days off yielded none of the major ones either. I don't have night sweats/fever/chills. What I DO have are occasional bouts of horrible heart palpitations, and sometimes....although it seems to be so slight that I'm imagining it....a sort of dizzy feeling. I also have red dots (petechiae?) but not a lot of them, and concentrated mostly on my abdomen. I was told that these can be caused by just about anything, including pregnancy (which I have had).
Would like to hear from you all.....how were you convinced you had babs (regardless of test results)? And.....what percentage of Lyme pts have babs? The number I see is always changing, and seems to vary by region too..... Thanks!

The symptoms for babesia in my daughter overlapped with bartonella. We can't separate the bacteria symptoms.
The biggest change is the red streaks have gone away, she's lost 50 of the 80 she gained, her breathing is better.
Babesia treatment has brought more internal vibrations and tremors, though.

My dots were brt related - no streaking just the tiny dots that went away with bart treatment.
My son had balance issues with his babs that cleared up (so far) with 7 months mepron protocol.
What seems to happen is the symptoms do overlap and if you are stalled in your treatment, some co-infection is the problem.
I just recently heard many speakers and the concensus was that co-infections are nearly universal in chronic lyme. The symptoms are more vague, and overlap. The diagnostic tests are less reliable. One reason for treatment resistant lyme is co-infections.

Do the dots/streaks appear before or during treatment?

What are these internal vibrations and tremors like? Are they similar to a muscle twitch, but internal? I ask because the other night I was lying down and it it felt like all my muscles were twitching but on the inside. I never had that happen before.
