Hi all..I've been dxed years ago possible ms after a neck injury. then lyme tx for 3 yrs. finally chiro found c1 vertabrae has been subluxated 3mm since my accident/confirmed by xray. Now I have many lesions after 15yrs with c1 out and all the abx causing major inflamation/herxes etc. I'm thinking the whiplash somehow could have compramized the bbb(blood brain barrier)so that it has made the brain suceptable to all toxins etc. Any input would be great.

I have no idea, krazykt, but was treated fairly successfully (about 85-90% well) before getting severely whiplashed.
No treatment has worked since. I'm curious to see what input you get and what you find out.

My husband was in a car accident over 3 years ago and got whiplash. He went to many, many doctors, had many, many treatments. Gradually, he continued to decline, and lo and behold, his chiropractor told him that he had classic fibromyalgia symptoms.
Because I had previously been mis-diagnosed with CFS and FM for years, and later found it was Lyme, I told him to also get tested for Lyme. Yes, he has it.
His neck injury is at C3. In the last 6 months he's really gone downhill. He's contemplating surgery and our Lyme doctor believes that it will help his recovery from Lyme, by reducing pain and sleep problems, and will help his immune system as well.
I think the accident was a tipping point for him. He had already been under a lot of stress, and we know how Bb likes to take advantage of us when our defenses are down, either by an accident, surgery, or other stressful events.
By the time he got tested for Lyme, other underlying infections were found, such as EBV, mycoplasma, and candida, as a result of his immune system being compromised. Also, lots of low hormones including low thyroid, caused by the Lyme.
So I do believe that there's a connection between your accident, whiplash, and Lyme. Doesn't it make sense that there would be? Our bodies can only take so much.
Take care, Hopeful4

thank you Hopeful. I agree absolutely. my injury is at c1+c2...pretty close to the brain which is why I am concerned about taking more abx and creating more inflamation.I have been in a w/chair for 4yrs. and I've had enough of this (like the rest of us)

I had a pretty serious neck injury from a bad fall. It didn't bother me much until about five years later after I got lyme (although I think I already had Bart before that.)
CranioSacral therapy gave me back my mobility and keeps me going. I learned how to do it myself, and work on my own neck almost daily to stay mobile and reduce pain.
I'm pretty neuro, but I don't make the connection of that causing the blood brain barrier breach. I've exposed myself to plenty of other things, like toxic solvents, that could have caused that to happen.
