I think I have had Lyme for at least a few years now. But my lyme tests keep coming up postive IgM only. I have only 1 IgG band even now 1 year later with relapsing symptoms I have a IgM positive western blot. Anyone else?

I guess I have had Lyme for 2 years now (when symptoms started) but was not diagnosed until 6 months ago. I had positive IGM with bands 41, 29, and 23.
It was CDC positive and Health Department has contacted me several times.

My daughter has had Lyme for 11 yrs and only got her first treatment last August.and still her WB looks like a "recent infection"...with only three bands positive on the IgG...five are needed I believe to classify it as Longer term infection..I still cant grasp why this is... think it might be related to the immune system being so overwhelmned for so long that it didnt produce antibodies for a long time..

OK Just to clarify for you folks....
IGG positive means you have been exposed to that particular band(strain) of BB sometime in your life.
IGM Means you are presently ACTIVE...in other words your strain or strains(bands)of bb are now up and running...disseminating thru your system!
Why worry if you have an IGG positive....besides...I have had both positive at two times tested....and one or the other
positive alone on some occasions and depending on the lab...none positive! Even with StoneyBrook....or Igenex....
So I would'nt concentrate or put too too much focus on whether or not one has a pos IGG or IGM for BB anytime.

So, is having a positive IgM more important than having a positive IgG? I guess in terms of doctors being open to treatment?
IgM means current infection. I think I've been infected for a little over a year. I had a positive IgM, and I was one band short of having a positive IgG.
I had a positive band on my IgM, I think band 83, that my LLMD said was consistant with "chronic" infection. Anybody heard of this?
Also, can you be asymptomatic or at least have very mild symptoms here and there, for several years, and then one day, it just hits you like a ton of bricks? If so, why does that happen?
