He talks about the marshall protocol. Seems kindof strange to me. Any comments?
Thanks in Portland.

I don't think it works, but do a search and you will find its proponents here as well!!! There are some long thick threads on this so read away!

I am not sure that it has been proven to work for Lyme. I have heard and read some stories on the net from some people who say it is helping them, though.
I started to go on it in January and started decreasing my vitamin D intake, etc. I had a bad feeling about it, though. When I started taking the benicar, I started at a very low dose and seemed to tolerate it. When I tried to go up in dose, my heart just gave me all kinds of palpitations and pounding, etc.
I stopped the benicar after only having taken one minocycline.
Went to the cardiologist because it scared me so much. He said I was having PVC's and alot of people have them and it is normal (but, of course, I was not having the same symptoms as when I was on the benicar).
My LLMD is very much against it because of the lowering of the vitamin D. Some have reported that they were worse on the protocol and took a long time to regain ground after stopping it. It did take me many months to regain my vitamin D levels - longer than the amount of time that I was reducing the intake!
That is my experience.

I have not tried it, but have heard of some that have.
I am on the Buhner protocol and I KNOW that it works. Jim

Some people swear by it but I don't think I would try this one. I have the book also.

From what Ive seen it has the 3rd success rate. Same as psychotropic drugs for depression.
1/3 will get better 1/3 will stay the same 1/3 will get worse.
You might as well eat tuna pie!
just kidding, the mercury will get you

Well, about 20% will get better, no matter what they do--that's called the "placebo effect." If you get any less than that, you've got a treatment that is actively harmful.
I have been taking Buhner's herbs, and am doing better for sure. But, I wasn't horribly sick when starting them.
I have been investigating the Marshall Protocol for many months. I did do the two "D" blood tests late last year, and mine were both quite high (they're both lower now). I have lowered my Vit. D intake and cut back on light exposure and wear NoIR glasses. The glasses helped almost immediately with my "brain fog."
You can check out the Marshall Protocol website for data, including what's happening with people on it, as their posts to the moderators are open to view. However, I've been told that people who had very bad reactions had their posts deleted from the site, so it is not, reportedly, the "complete data."
Make sure you look up any words there that you don't get--they throw the medical and biochemical verbage and abbreviations around like everyone knows what they're talking about!! There is a definitions list at the site, which will save you a lot of aggravation and headaches if you read it first and make sure you understand what's being talked about.
At the site, you can look up "Therapeutic Probe" and look that over also.
It is definitely not a protocol that everyone can or should do, in my opinion. You need to make your own informed decision.
Best,

I tried Marshall Protocol for one year, (the full thing with Vit D avoidance, NOIRs, etc etc) and found it helped at first, then quickly tapered off and I made no more progress, even after advancing through the different levels of treatment. The biggest flaw I find in Marshall's treatment is that they don't treat any co-infections, but expect that your "amped up" immune system will take care of them. That wasn't the case for me. There are lots and lots of previous posts on the subject, and I would encourage you to look at those. Good luck.

I love the MP and feel like a human being again. Biggest suggestion that My doc has all her patients on is combining it with glyconutrients.
It is the missing link to the MP for me.
As we all know not everything works for everyone so you have to go down the right path for you.

The MP has been helping me. It isn't easy to stay on, and the process isn't quick, but what they describe is an excellent match for my symptoms.
On my own, I had discovered a vitamin D connection to my symptoms before learning of the MP. That convinced me. The MP is the only approach that is able to explain all I've experienced in 10 years of searching for a cure.

I would be extremely cautious regarding the Marshall protocol. Depriving yourself of Vitamin d can have some very detrimental health effects re: cancer etc.
I would love to learn more about combining glyco's with the MP. Can you PM me with your doc's name? Do you have any other reports on why to combine glycos with MP?
Thanks...
