I have recently begun getting sharp, zinging pain in my back and legs. I have always had back pain and issues with standing and leg numbness, but this is different. It happens in no particular place. I was thinking of asking for an MRI to rule out any disc problems. I have had a laminectomy for spinal stenosis and was told that I had a slight closing in another disc 3 years ago.
The surgery never took away the pain, but I still think I needed it to stop the closing of my spinal column. Was this a crazy theory? I do have degenerative arthritis of the spine anyway. I hate to go with any surgery, when I was so dissapointed with the last.
I am seeing my primary care Dr. next week and want to have a hold on what to ask about. Thanks.

Hi. I get stabbing pains mostly in my legs and ankles as well.
I also sometimes get them in unmentionable areas and in my ribs.
Yesterday I had one in my left ankle that left me crying and gasping for air.
It came....then went.
For me, this is Lyme. However, I do not have your back history.
Maybe someone else can provide some more info.
Hugs,
Geneal

Soryy to hear about your pain. I had intense pain radiating from my tailbone, down the outer sides of my legs and into my feet. I've also had "zinging" feelings, as you aptly describe it, in my wrists and all over my body. An MRI of my spine came back negative.
My LLMD says this kind of pain is characteristic of Bartonella, which I just tested positive for. I am awaiting Lyme and Babesia results. He was kind enough to prescribe Vicodin, which helps a lot, especially when herxing.
If you have not already, I personally would advise getting not only an MRI, but also seeing an LLMD to order Igenex tests.
Good luck and I hope you feel better.
