I feel like I'm posting a lot lately but have just had so many issues! I was on IV Zith and oral rifampin for 2 months then had to discontinue Zith because of severe ear ringing (more like head ringing). I've been off the Zith for 3 weeks and the ear ringing mostly subsided, though not completely. Now the last few days it's gotten really bad again and I'm only on Rifampin. It's like this peircing ring in my head - sometimes the only thing I can think of is I have metal of some sort in my head (I am getting my mercury fillings replaced this month - could it be mercury that is causing the peircing ring?). Anyway, thoughts??What should I do?

A man in our group had been suffering with the ear ringing for years. They think he was infected 12 years ago but didn't go into acute phase (following another bite?)until a year or two ago when they thought he had ALS. But he, too, lost the ear ringing on Rocephin. Interesting.
