I was on Art and Zith for possible babs and Igenex pos lyme. Art was horrible , zith hurt stomach but was ok. Prob is after less than 2 months my liver levels went up! I had to stop.

My body is super sensitive to meds/chemicals, etc..so i wasnt suprised. What am i suppose to do now. I definitely stopped taking them but dont know if i should resume or not. Is there anything herbal to take for a while?? Cats Claw, etc????!

Some of my symptoms are unbareable! Especially this intense pressure in my brain like its pushing up on my head. I cant handle it. I want to poke a hole in my skull! [Smile]

You might want to read about the Cowden Protocol, (http://www.nutramedix.com) and more importantly Stephen's Buhner's book, Healing Lyme (available on Amazon.com). There is a section on Babs in their as well as Lyme and co-infections.

I had Babs many moons ago, and was treated with antibiotics and then Artemesian capsules afterward.

if you can try to take the antibiotics for Babs, Mepron and whatever your dr. prescribes, try to do it when they give the OK. It will help significantly with your Lyme if you can minimize the co-infection(s).

Then follow up with the herb. Resistance can be built up as well I was told on the Artemesian for Babs, so if you just go herbal, try and stick with it.

In the cowden protocol, Cumanda has been shown to have anti-parasitic as well as antimicrobial benefits, so in conjuction with the Artemesian, you may helped with both Babs and Lyme (which is what the protocol is for...Lyme)

Samento is also in the cowden protocol as well as Buhner's herbal protocols.

You should be discussing this all with your LLMD as to whether to resume or not. I am assuming they made you stop since your liver enzymes were elevated? Ask your doctor about resuming. No one here can answer that question nor should, and I wouldn't take it upon myself to resume drugs until you're body is ready again, repeat, if you're doc gives the A-OK.

I can tell you what's in the Buhner book regarding Babs, but I do think most LLMDs are aware of the herbal remedies for babs.

Buhner has for treatment of babs:
Artemisian capsules, 100 mg 3X daily for 30-40 days
Red root tincture: One half to one and a half tsp (30-90 drops) to 4X a day

For shaking chills sweats or fever:
boneset tea, 2-4 cups a day

You may also want to consult a homeopath if your dr. is not literate with these protocols and is always best to do anyway IMO. But if money is an issue, at least buy the book for the Buhner protocol. It has sources as to where the buy the herbs, and explains in pretty plain language how they work against Lyme and friends, the possible side effects, etc.

Good luck and feel better!
