I saw this piece too!! I have it very bad, have to think for days, who was that I just saw? I was a few cents short for a prescription in the drug store and a lady standing next to me said "don't worry, I've go it - what are neighbors for?" This was a few years ago and I still have no clue who it was. It's embarassing - people know me, I am completely bewildered. But I didn't have this pre-Lyme, so that part of the brain must also be subject to damage from Lyme. Wow.

I have this but not as severe as the examples in the video. It's kind of inbetween.
I can remember some famous people and some people close to me. If they are out of the usual context I have no clue.
I have a shot at identifying famous people when I hear their voices moreso then by seeing their faces. I can tell from the kitchen but not from watching the TV for example.
I do remember some but it's very unpredictable.
I dread meeting someone I know in public. It's very hard to cover for. I can lose friends in crowds; I try to memorize what color shirt they are wearing.
I thought I was just spacey and not paying attention. I try to study faces but it doesn't necessarily help. I wind up studying one feature and forget about the rest. I may know someone had green eyes and when I see then again think, "Oooo nice green eyes!"

A specific part of the brain does this. I couldn't recognise my own mother if I looked only at her face. I've learned over the years to recognise a "walk" .. posture.. a voice.. whatever. NOT easy.
My solution? Say "hey" to everyone you see. Folks think you are just friendly and have no clue that you don't know them if you happened to meet them on the street.
But it isn't much fun in NY City. They tend to think you are a freak if you look at them and say hey.. and don't usually respond for some reason.
I've also trained my family to know that when I pinch them they need to introduce me to someone or say something like.. "you remember so and so.. don't you?"
But yes... it is a specific part of the brain.. and they test folks for this cognative function on those tests they do. I flunked that one BIG time! That is when I first knew about the problem I was having... the first I'd heard of it... and I was thankful to know it wasn't just my normal stupidity in motion.

Yes.....Two seperate entities of the brain.
Visual cortex for visual recognition is located in the cerebellum (back of the head).
Word finding problems, even names, are located in the temporal/parietal lobe of the brain on the left side.
That is right next to and above your ear.
It could just be an interruption of the synapses (connections) from one center of function
To the other.
I have always been terrible on names...great on faces.
For me to remember a name, I have to associate it with something funny or silly.
That really helps me. This was going on way before Lyme.

I know someone who has this as a result of meningitis. He can't recognize his own wife's face from a crowd.
Hmmm...never ocurred to me that the meningitis could be from lyme.
