I was just wondering if anyone in here has chronic nausea/severe loss of appetite?

If you do, what are you doing to help it... or can anything help it?

I dont eat in the mornings and I feel nausea a lot of mornings.

My doc thinks the nausea is from the pressure in my head from the babs, similar to the nausea brain cancer patients get.

Sometimes i'll just puke for no reason at all. And it comes on very suddenly. Sometimes ill just feel nauseated for a couple hours but never actually vomit

It happens about 2 times a month especially when the headaches are bad

I have nausea most of the time as a result of the abx and mepron combination (or so it seems). My appetite comes and goes so it's not a big problem for me plus I don't lose weight even when I eat little to nothing for prolonged periods so that part is not a problem. I take lots of good vitamins and minerals so as to get everything I need, even if I don't eat much.

If the meds are causing the nausea, check to see if you can eat with them. Maybe you aren't eating enough with the meds? Also, drink LOTS of water with the meds. This makes a huge difference for me. You may also try drinking 7-up with your meds. I also take a lot of papaya enzyme (chewable) when I feel sick and that helps. Sometimes I just have to live with it.

I know exactly how you feel. Hope you feel better soon.

Terry

Ya i guess it could be the meds im on mep and zith also.

Also working out helps a lot by raising ur appetite and generally boosting energy levels.

Also I try not to intake alchohol, caffeinne, sugar, or any junky crap food in general.

Well I have had chronic nausea sine the day I got sick with lyme disease. On my decent days I dont really get nauseated but have a really really poor appetite or none at all.

I have alot of trigger points through out my body that are caused by the lyme disease, I am wondering if there are some spots that may be causing my nausea to be chronic...

I have no appetite at all. Even my favorite foods don't sound good to me. This reminds me of when I pregnant with my kids. I'm not sure

if this is from the meds or babs? Gingerale helps me, but it does have sugar in it. I will

also chew mint gum which I finds helps me too. If I really can't eat anything I will go buy a Mcdonalds shake. Probably not good for yeast,

but for some reason it always takes good to me. [Smile]

I was just trying to see if anyone on here has the same problem I do or not.

I have been scoped twice, MRI's and catscans of the full body along with bone scans, piles of bloodwork, ect. So there is nothing serious just nothing works to help my nausea and it is constant... Leaves me stumped, also have a chronic headache and chronic muscle pain. Gotta figure a way to tie them together

I started taking 3 ginger capsules a day, which has helped. I add raw ginger to smoothies too.

Acupuncture has also worked some.

Good luck!

Hi Byron: I have chronic morning nausea now, probably from the babesia. This is a new symptom for me- I have been in treatment two years now. I usually dont eat now in the morning until the upsetment subsides and eat in the afternoon and evening. My weight has not changed since the lyme has attacked my thyroid and I have problems there now too.

Sometimes, when it is really bad I will drink peppermint tea to help settle the stomach doown. Hope that this can be of help to you. Have a good day.

Byron:

I have had continuous nausea. I had all the tests you had. Nothing showed up. Being treated for Babs helped. I stopped the treatment and the nausea returned with a vengeance in about 4 months. I am back on Babs meds and the nausea is slowly reducing. Mornings are still horrible though.

Ginger does help. Steep fresh ginger in hot water or in tea and drink it down. Eat with your meds. I took Reglan for a few months, which helped a bit. Can't remember why I stopped taking it.

Hang in there. And know you are not alone with this.

Yes, chronic nausea is me. Look at what I just posted on July 16th. Nausea has been the primary symptom that has driven me to so many doctors. Have you been diagnosed with Lyme?

I can tell you I have also been through just about every test under the sun. I have a great gastro specialist who did a gastric empying study which showed my digestion is slow. I have a barium swallow scheduled for next week. I am unsure at this time whether it is due to Lyme or another issue. It is AWFUL!!

Unfortunately I haven't found anything that relieves my nausea episodes. Look into having your cortisol checked if you haven't already....

oopps, just re-read the thread...you do have Lyme. Well, I'm dealing with the same thing....not due to any medication and unsure whether it is Lyme or something else.

I got tested for food sensitivities. I cut out the foods I was sensitive to, and the nausea really reduced. Lemon was a big culprit for me.

Unfortunately, the lab I used is no longer doing testing. I would never have figured out my foods through an elimination diet (lemon, tofu, cranberry, red leaf lettuce, and xanthum gum).

I also find I'm much better generally when I eat more carbs. I know if you are on abx, you need to be careful with yeast. But personally, when I start getting nauseaus while eating, bread or pasta usually helps settle my stomach.

Hi Bryon

I am so sory you have to go threw this, chronic nausea really stinks [Frown] I had to stop taking meds over a year ago but still have the nausea & loss of appetite. Been scoped every which way, gastric empting studies ect... you name it I probably had it.

for me could be babs, lyme or vagus nerve:

Vagus nerve:

http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=046831

The only things that made a big difference was prilosec, carafate, phenergan and a very bland acid free ulcer diet.

Things that helps sometimes are: SF peppermint gum, ginger root seeped in pepperemint tea, dry toast & and chamomile tea...anything salty like pretzels or potatoe chips (not exactly lyme friendly)

Things I have tried that didn't help me but I have read have helped others are: mastic gum , slippery elm, aloe juice, DGl, L-Glutamine, coconut oil, licorice, digestive enzymes.

Treating for yeast has helped along to way to some degree. For, at several points, definetly had upper & lower GI yeast.

I hope you can find some help & your nausea gets better soon. [group hug]
Dana

make sure to talk over everything first with your LLMD...none of the above is medical advice...just my 2 cents

I am sick to my stomach 24/7!!!! If I smell anything I think is off, up it comes. It's been that way since my Lyme came out of remission.

I don't eat, and I get yelled at by my husband, mother and my doctor. I'm probably the fattest anorexic you know!!! (and I'm not making light of anorexia) It definately hadn't made me lose weight, if anything I have gained since my Lyme came back...go figure!

Who wants to eat when you feel this way? I have tried ginger tea, helps a bit. But I feel until I get this disease under control again...I'm just going to keep feeling like this.

I wish I had some miracle help for this, but atleast your not alone!

Much Luck!
