Went to my ID doc today with photos of rashes in tow. They recorded my temp as 101.7 pulse 120 etc. There was some crisis at the clinic and my doc left the room 3 times to take calls etc.
Finally after I told him this was getting real old, he asked me if I wanted to kill myself and I was thinking no, but I would like to wring your neck... SO I said no but my anxiety and depression is really bad. He said I need to seek Pshyciatric help. I told him I am too sick to go. to 300 appointments per week, He said you have to go.. Ok. H ewould not refill my Xanax, Thats a real help.
Then I asked him to fill out FMLA paperwork for my husbands job. Mind you tha this is the doctor who has admitted me to the hospital twice and been seeing for Lyme and a chronic fever for 3 months (of unknown origin lol)Everytime I am in the hospital or too sick to function my hubby has to take a day off here and there. My husband works 7 days a week everyother week. I think 2-3 days he had to take off so far. My doc told me he cant fillout FMLA for someone who is not his patient his doc would have to.
But I said how would his doc know what was wrong with me. It says treating md? It asks specific q's about my prescriptions and diagnoses. That doesn't even make sense. So A doc I never met is going to sign my husbands FMLA on me? HELLO?
To top it of He wrote me a RX for STEROIDS! I said if I have an infection isnt this a real bad idea? This is not enough to make a difference with that. What am I a friggin experiment? I have a family, I have a life (HAD).
I am not taking the steroids and see LLMD on monday for the first time, it couldnt be soon enough. I think I will not be visiting this doc again....except to fill out the FMLA crap. Once I do that I am done..
I am so mad, so sick, and I just want to cry and vomit. I guess I am so mentally ill I can create my own fevers... Posts: 3905 | From USA | Registered: May 2007

Most doctors are completely retarded. It can be SOOOOOOOOOOO frustrating.
They don't listen, they think they know everything and when they can't come up with whats wrong with you, they say that you are the crazy one. Or in my case they just claim that i have weird things wrong with me that i do not even have symptoms of.
The last doctor (I saw before I got my appointment with my LLMD) was treating me for bursitis, arthritis, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgai for 2 years. When I told him at my last apointment that i thought i might have lyme, he looked at my like I just said 'i think the world is made of cheese' like I was completely out of my mind.
He then told me "No! There is absolutly no Lyme in Florida, thats not what you have, dont waste your time! thats just crazy."
I then told him I had left the state in the 20 years i have been alive, and that i stayed in many places where Lyme is very prevelant. He completely ignored me.
1 month later, Guess who is diagnosed with LYME, EHRLICHIA, ANAPLASMA, and BABESIA?
I have seen more than 23 doctors over the past 12 years of my life trying to figure out why I am so sick and disabled.
The Average doctor is an idiot...
Once you get in to see a real Doctor, a LLMD, you will feel SO much better. It is nice to talk to someone who gets it.

I sympathize with you merrygirl. I've had my share of idiots and ego maniac doctors to deal with.
Please be careful in drawing attention to LLMD's, especially with ID's. Whatever you do, don't give him your LLMD's name since he may try to cause trouble considering his attitude.

No I will not mention specifics at all. Already learned that lesson. But I want this ID doc to know that I know what the real deal is. Just playing stupid for now....I will just say I went to a LYME SPECIALIST.....IF I do at all. I may just never return too. Just based on the FMLA stuff. I just need him to fill this out.
Oh yeah I lost 18 pounds too without trying so that must be in my head too....I am going to start a new trend Phsycotic weight loss for dummies.....
Can someone explain in detail what would happen if I took the steroids ( besides the fact I am insulin resistant and my BG will be 300) in regards to my TBI??

Thanks guys. The steroid is a Medrol pack. I just feel so let down by the medical "profession" I swear my animals get better care by the Veterinarians.
Think about it- How many different species do they see? Their patients can not talk and tell them what hurts. Each species has different metabolisms, and they can actually use a microscope! They don't need to refer to every specialty known to the world. They do when needed. They actually do a whole physical exam every visit. What a concept.
Vets attend the same amount of medical school as MD's. MD's only have to take care of humans, one species. In my opinion, Vets are far superior to a majority of md's. dont get me wrong there are some bad vets too, but nothing like this...
Getting an MRI of my head tomorrow to see what may be growing in there.
sigh- here is to a better day friday.

it's times like that you wish you had a voodoo doll stinking pins in all the areas where you have 24/7 pain!
glad you came here to rant and receive the moral support HE FAILED TO GIVE YOU AS A CHRONIC LYME PATIENT!

Couple comments here, strong ones, if I may say so...
1st, sorry for what you're going through, Merry -- the LLMD will be a better experience.
2nd, Skyler -- re duck saying no Lyme in Florida? Search for this: US Army Lyme Disease Risk Assessments, and click on the first entry, with 1983-1996 dates. Every state in the country has assessed its army bases for Lyme disease and other diseases as well. They all knew about Lyme disease.
If you read the report about the Florida base with a moderate Lyme report, Eglin, it mentions that FDOH(Florida Dept of Health) has Lyme disease reports. So you probably could do a search of the FDOH for LD reports. Then what I suggest is you print out these reports and send them to the duck you saw who said there's no Lyme in your state.
BTW, folks, this is a really interesting read, to go check on the reports of LD on the bases in your state.
3rd, regarding steroids, the saddest story I have read so far is at the Oprah stories site -- http://boards.oprah.com/WebX/.f161b7a/0 -- it's story #108 -- about an 8-yr-old girl who was prescribed steroids for "lupus". Read it and weep.
Then, if you haven't done so already, read through the amazing Lyme/co stories being sent in to Oprah for a show, and then submit yours, if you feel up to it. 110 stories have come in so far. Also ask her for a show at Tell Us Your Ideas. But do post your story at the link I listed here, since these stories are visible to the public, and can help you formulate yours as well.

Merry, Merry, quack quack quack!!!
So sorry you were ducked again by the ID duck!
You said.. "The funny thing is that this duck has no idea I know about LLMD's, I think I will tell him after he signs my FMLA!!! HAHAH"
If I may suggest...
Ducks can't get away with stomping on your head when you make them look as stupid as they really are... so the only thing they can do when you ruffle their feathers is to go after the doctor treating you. And they WILL search them out.
So PLEASE do be VERY careful before you kick duck butt that you completely leave out any thought or mention of any other doctor.

God honey, I know how you feel. I need to find a pain managment doc, and a psych too.... just the thought of expending that energy right now makes me sick.... and then all the more appts i will have. I already see docs once a week, or so it seems to average out. it's very frustrating I know.
hopefully you found a good llmd and can get going in the right direction. I just started treatment a few weeks ago, and just want to die right about now....afraid of finding pain man. doc because I'm sure they will want to give me steroid shots.... even though I have been told that if I do that one more time I would bet on dying.
we're here for you....hang in there, DO NOT take those steroids, it's the worst thing for your body right now.

I will not tell him who I am going to or where. I promise. I may not say anything. I will be cooled down by then (maybe) so I may just say getting another opinion yada yada. I would not want to cause trouble for a person who is going to help me.
I really appreciate all of your encouragement and support through these very difficult times.
It is nice to know that there is a group who (unfortunately) know what you are going through. \ I just think of all the Lyme patients who do not have a computer or have the energy or nerve to question a doc. They just do as they are told...

merry, Save your paper for somebody that cares.
I promise you he wont read it anyway!!
Either while you are watching,,or immediately after you leacve it will hit the round circular file with the open top.
I wanted to educate a nice guy too,,,printed it all off,,,got this WAIL when I gave it to him to read!!! "When an I supposed to read all THIS???"
Short story,,,they WONT. They are too smart and know everything anyway. Their time is SOO precious,,,they cant be expected to learn anything. They already bled red during med school,,,they arent taking NO more!!
I have found they are either OPEN minded or CLOSED mind,no in betweens. They will have a million excuses as to WHY its immpossible to be wrong!! Too much ammo put out there for them to grab ahold,,,when in need!! I remain--just don--

My niece and her husband are both veterinarians and they know people who were unable to get into the veterinarian school and thus applied to be an MD because it was EASIER to get into MED SCHOOL!!

So sorry you have to go through all this crap when you are so ill.
I was in the duck motel for surgery to remove my gall bladder and the duck who was going to operate came into the room and said "oh by the way you do not have lyme disease, it is not here in Canada." Then he rolled his eyes and said some people believe in UFO's too. Needless to say I was in tears on the phone with my hubby (this was during the Sars breakout and my hubby couldn't visit me) I think he enjoyed praying on a vunerable sick person.
I wish you the best of luck on Monday with your LLMD Take care your friend Cassie

It is my opinion that the ducks know all too well what they're doing. They've probably been told to stand down from recognizing Lyme disease because insurance doesn't want to pay the costs of treatment and longterm disability. So they say anything and everything to the patients. Nothing they say matters. Follow the money trail.
