Anybody else have one of these?
It's been fifteen years now and it doesn't hurt, just stings sometimes. was one of my first symptoms.
My knees are similar...and no I'm not letting some duck dig around in any of my joints...I know somebody who lost an arm that way.
Wanna compare elbows? mine is uglier.

I think I'll leave it alone...It comes and goes and is I'm sure TBD related...but poking holes in body parts isn't a good idea IMO.
Charlie ugly elbow champ so far...

Charlie,
You definitely should get the award!
Does it hurt?
It hurt me to look at it.
I sure hope it doesn't cause you pain.
BTW, I am sure I could win the ugly foot award!
Hugs,
Geneal

Nope, I bet you'll be the winner. It's not so ugly as it is big and round.
I'm glad is doesn't hurt.
I had a small lump on my elbow at one time but is totally not in any category close.
Oh and thanks... I'd not have thought of hanging a knife block. (That is what's there, isn't it?) Still searching for ways to create more storage and counter space.

I agree with Cave on this one (OhNooo, not again).
If it's free moving and not a part of the joint, then how could they mess that up? Just be up front and tell them take out the cyst only and nothin else!!--no exploring into the joint etc.

Well, I have got cysts behind both knees, thanks to lyme arthritis, and a thumb joint got a knob on it before I started any treatment. That is why I have since assumed all arthritis was caused by bacteria of one kind or another. So is your elbow enlargement soft like a fluid filled cyst, or is it hard like bone?
Looks like you have some muscle wasting too.

I think I'll just keep it since it doesn't hurt...a couple of GPs and RNs have told me it's nothing very unusual and leaving it alone is preferable to making a hole in myself unless it starts doing something active.
besides I was thinking of having a smiley tattooed on it....and I can get my way with most people by threatening to pop it on them...
lou..it's just kind of soft like swelling, it doesn't seem to have fluid in it. Don't think I have muscle wasting...if it quits raining and I get active again I gain muscle mass real fast.

Well, the reason I asked about whether it seemed to be fluid filled is that synovial cysts (like the ones behind my knees) can occur in other joints too and seem to be associated with lyme arthritis, and other types of arthritis. The med lit mentions hip, knees, elbows, ankle.
And I have read about tissue masses that were found in lyme patients.
Bart evidently can cause nodules, but I have no idea what these look like.

Hey Charlie
Yep I think you win the prize --
I had something about the sixe of a marble on my wrist - It hurt --
One day it got wacked real hard - Man It hurt but in days it was gone-
I talked with a friend about your lump and she said to wack it with a thick Book --
Worth a try-- Jay --
Ps I guess being from Texas you could wack it with the butt of your Six Shooter -

I hope it's not painful, it looks like it would hurt.
Would moist heat help if it's fluid filled?
It's not that ugly~ I would put a tattoo of a smiley face on it

My advice is to keep it hidden under a berka.
Maybe aliens implanted something in there and it is not at all keet related?
It is a good thing it does not hurt because it does not look the least bit confortable.
Good luck with whatever it is... and no I do not have one. I lock the door everynight so the aliens can not get to me.

That squrriel just blinded me. I received an early a.m. phone call and have not had enough sleep.
Acorn is it possible that cute little guy could pull his zipper up for a bit until I replace my sleep deficit?

Actually, my Dad has these. It is because he has gout. It is monosodium urate or uric acid crystals are deposited on the articular cartilage of joints, tendons and surrounding tissues due to elevated concentrations of uric acid in the blood stream.
He had one of them taken off but it was so painful he left the other one alone.
Your elbow looks exactly like my Dad's. Do a little research on gout and I bet you will see pics just like this.

The masses are called "tophi". Look at this pic. My Dad's look just like yours except they are not red like this one is.
Your doc should be able to tell you if you have had any previous testing for gouty arthritis. Would be good to know for sure if you have this as it can cause other problems, especially in the kidneys.

...I know about the gout thing...and I had a swollen big toe joint and both knees....I made the mistake of taking steroids to get the swelling down while my foot podiatrist friend who rxd me the medrin dosepacs was begging me to get a blood test to make sure it was gout before treating further.
I finally did and my uric acid was something around 5.5 making gout impossible.
But my Lyme ELISA was +4.89 (1.20 is positive).... I can get asymptomatic with self administered orals but I can't get these dang things to go away.
