Probably a question without a solid answer as, by now, I realize that everyone's experience is different, but how long does is brain fog last?

Mine started about 3 months ago and it was very intense. It slowly got better on it's own. I then started abx treatment about 3 weeks ago (no herx....yet). So far my main symptoms are brain fog, persistent HA and fatigue. My twitching seems to be much better.

How long until the fog lifts? How about the headaches?

BT

I had pretty bad brain fog for years. It started lifting after about one month on abx. It waxed and waned but finally left me after about 4 months of treatment. So far it has not come back.(off antibiotics 4 months)
I couldnt even tie a bow on a present without racking my brain, it was pretty bad.

The brain fog lifted for me in two stages. The first during treatment with IV Rocephin and the second after treatment with Rifampin the following year.

The Rocephin got the foggy feeling to lift but I still felt out of sync with things and not sharp mentally at all. The Rifampin got my sharpness back like I hadn't had in three years. That was last year.

Since then some of the phyiscal symptoms persist but the fog has stayed away.

I know its tough to deal with but it will lift slowly but surely over time.

good to hear it will finally go away.

I just keep waiting, and hoping.

A lot depends on WHAT you do for treatment. AND everyone is a little different. Depends on IF you have co-infections also.

I had bad brain fog AFTER I relapsed from abx.

Herbs lifted it, but it occasionally comes back, though not as bad. I think with age, it makes a difference also.

Jim.

Now that I think about it, I think that my brain fog and headaches go hand and hand. Less headache = less brain fog.

does anyone else have persistent headache as a significant feature of their Lyme?

Hubby has "head pressure" that seems to relate to his brain fog.

Both lyme and babs gave me horrible headaches. The only combo that really helped was, IM bicillin, mepron, septra, biaxon and plaq.

I also use glutathione to detox all the neurotoxins.

I had hideous brain fog for about 2 years leading up to my diagnosis.

Then it seemed to get worse after I started on abx.

That was two years ago. I'm much much better than I was, but I'm still only at about 80%...and I feel that difference at work.

I do try to exercise my brain by memorizing song lyrics or playing boggle online. Before I got sick, almost no one could beat me at boggle. Now, playing online, I usually rank somewhere in the middle of the pack. When I first started playing, though, I was consistently among the lowest three or four players.

I also try to read as much as possible. I figure anything I can do mentally can stimulate brain cells again.

Andie
