hi there. still on doxy for my tick bite. just wondering if anyone has experienced this.
i've had some numbness come and go in my left cheek, and the weirder things is i feel like a tingly, crawling type sensation on my left upper cheekbone, almost felt like something crawling on my face a couple times.
I've also been really sore all over, especially in my back, headaches off an on all day, and actually had a sharp jabbing pain that came and went in my left temple for a couple minutes earlier today.
I am taking hydrocodone 10/500 up to three times per day for the pain (joints, headache, rib pain, just all over from time to time), sometimes the pain med works, sometimes it doesn't do too much.
I have tried Motrin a few times too at 400mg when the pain is worse. Is there anything else out there that helps with the pain?
By the way, today is my fifth day on the doxy 100mg 2x per day, this was after finishing amoxicillin 500mg 3x per day for three weeks. My original tick bite occured on June 14th.
Thanks,
Roger

Hi there- I have dealt with numbness and tingling in the left side of my face since 2000.
Off and on it has been obnoxious. I did the neurologists, pain doctors and other MDs who said it was impossible to feel numb on the same side of my face as my body. They are all wrong. My LLMD said that many of his patients have this happen. Initially on certain antibiotics it gets worse, but once the herx settles down it improves pretty dramatically. I actually went for two months without any tingling or numbness in my face. Some have suggested that this is the beginning of Bell's Palsy- I don't know if this is true or not. All that I know is that Neurontin and other drugs prescribed by neurologists did nothing for it. It has waxed and waned like many of my other symptoms. I do know that numbness and tingling are often harder to improve- even with the best treatment. For me, though- like all of my symptoms- I have found relief with the right abx. I hope this helps.

My wife has had this sensation near her left cheek during Rife treatments in the past.
Her sister who also has Lyme had the same sensation and contracted Bell's Palsy. She was treated for it and it is gone now, although her Lyme is still there.
I do not remember the details but apparently there is a particularly sensitive nerve in that area that gets inflamed and causes the problem. I would speculate that it is not the only nerve you have that is inflamed.
Look up Bell's Palsy for more info.

Hi Roger, Sorry today is such a bad Lyme day - the good news is the abx are working. The cheek thing will go away w/ treatment - for me it was my right cheek. Typical herx by the sound of it. The only help I can offer u for the bone pain or all over pain &/or muscle pain is a hot bath w/ epsom salts - as hot as u can stand it. Stay in till after u have worked up a good sweat. It will help some w/ the pain, and it will help detox u. I also rub down afterwards w/ cotton squares & rubbing alcahol. You'll be surprised how dirty the cotton will be. Lots of fluids to help flush your system. Another of my fav's for aches & pain is a moist micowave heat thing. If u don't have 1 you can make 1 with a tube sock & reg rice (not the instant kind) tie a knot in it & heat 3 mins. Apply to whatever hurts - I can't live w/out mine. Plus, the critters don't like the heat. Hope this helps take the ache's & pain's down a notch. Cindy

thanks everyone for your posts, i really appreciate it. my back pain is the worst of it all right now, just can't seem to make it go away.
if this is herxing, i can't wait for it to go away and feel better. i usually walk about 5 miles per day, two 20 minute easy walks and a 30-40 minute fast walk, but just didn't have the strength or energy to do more than the two 20 minute easy walks.
i definitely want to keep up my walking workout, it has helped me lose weight in the past and helped out with my anxiety that i have had for about 3 years.
my best to everyone,
Roger

The creepy crawly sensation on the face--cheeks, under eyes especially I attribute to Babs. Or maybe a Babs infection holding up improvement of Lyme.
Suffered this symptom, though there are sure far worse things to have, for years.
My opinion: Doxy will never cut through the TBDs enough to touch it. Mine is finally leaving after long Babs treatment.
I, too, have wondered if it isn't Bb on one of the cranial nerves, the facial nerve affected by Bell's Palsy. Good luck.
Just want you to know the feeling is and real not something others haven't felt.

Have you been tested for Babesiosis and Bartonella?
If you have Babesiosis, the ABX may not be working to get rid of the Lyme. Babesiosis must be treated first for Lyme Tx to work.
Judging by the severity of your symptoms,(all the pain meds not providing relief and short time since initial infection) I would surely suspect a co-infection. Co-infection make it all more severe.
Also 200mg Doxy is considered Bacteriostatic, not Bacteriocidal, as far as I know. I didn't really Herx until I bumped up to 300mg so I suspect it's true.
BTW- Yes, I've had that sensation, also. ( not pleasant) I do have both Lyme & Babesiosis.

Try the powdered "Calm". Take until you work up to loose stools.

Someone just told me that Lyme is Morgellons and sent me this link, suggesting I do the salt/C protocol after I complained of tingles and crawling sensations. I actually sometimes get sharp bee sting sensations.
