I'm on rocephin now and I know it worked on joints the first time around. This is my second round with IV and it is pinpointing areas in my

joints of my hands, so much, I feel as if I am newly re-infected. It's not a new infection,

but that's how its penetrating my knuckles. This is my fourth week of IV.

Be well - sorry I don't know about the synovial fluid. Good luck with your treatment. Are you on long?

Hi Im not on it yet but think I may really need it with the meningitis and all.
can you tell me what you feel when it goes in your knuckles.
like what do you mean it feels like a new infection, can you explain.
do your knuckles get warm and burn
and then does it go away
I have it really bad in my spine
like hot burning acid and water
thank you for your input.
its great to know that it does get into the joints ! that gives me hope as I ahve poor mobility in my hips and thigh bones

Well, you ask a question here on lymenet and you'll get many different answers depending on people's individual experience.

This is my 5th month on IV Rocephin-it has helped my brain a great deal-sometimes I even look intelligent.

But I have to say it has not done a whole lot for body pain.

My physical pain is like a traveling circus. I remember when my spine hurt so much it was difficult to sit in a chair for very long. Today it doesn't hurt at all.

Then it's my right leg that has me limping.

My left hand fingers that ache. yada yada

Some days I have no pain(these are the days that give me hope)

Next day my neck will hurt, or my lower back, my eyes, my head-it just seems to be swirling from day to day.

Overall- I am better though.

Take Care,
Carol

cob-its good to hear your spine is well it is my worst sx.
maybe you are herxing
My main question was if Rocephin can get to the brain and bones.
like can it get to the joints and kill the ketes there you know.
bc if it cant then what abx can get there
joints seem to be an early manifestation of lyme and well i wanted to know if rocephin can basically go in there and help.
i know people have gotten out of wheel chairs with lyme and im trying to see what works best.
my mobility is not the best in my joints
any more input is appreciated
thanks

Having been on IV Rocephin for just five short weeks I think it probably can get into the tissue, bone, joints, a bit quicker than oral antibiotics.

I have severe back issues (three cervical fusions). I never put the back issues with lyme until I was diagnosed with lyme a year ago. I think they are definitely linked.

Having said that I did the oral antibiotics for a year and had hoped to avoid doing IV. I have neuro lyme and have had some myoclonus (Body jerks) and seizures. I was told up front a year ago that the only antibiotics that will cross the blood brain barrier are IV.

So one year later and 75% back to where I was I am hoping the IV Rocephin a 2 grams a day for a minimus of six months will get me back even further.

Haven't noticed any real significant difference with it though. I had a friend who just finished six full months and she said the differences are usually around the fourth month.

I just added flagyl to the mix and hope that helps with the cysts that supposedly are formed when the Rocephin drives the bacteria into cyst form.
