has anyone ever heard if diflucan was a cyst buster I read that alinia , flagyl and tinidazole are cyst busters but i did some research on a protozoal infection-leishmania -- and it is treated with ketoconzole and antifungal derivatives like diflucan--fluconazole. it mande me think that maybe this is why some people have success with diflucan with their lyme tx. any experience

Hmmmmm.
My neighbor, who also has Lyme has been on doxy, flagyl and diflucan.
The diflucan is specifically for yeast in her case.
I am not sure of the answer, but am bumping you up for more help.

I don't believe so citrus.
As far as I know Diflucan/flucanazol is an anti-fungal. The doctor in Germany is using it, I believe, prior to IM penecillin and supposedly having some success.
Given that we all seem to get SOME kind of yeast/fungal problems, due to the number of different families of and length of time we are using antibiotics or antivirals.
The use then of, an oral antifungal agent, would be the prudent course of irradicating this side effect.
Not to mention, the irradication of symptoms, that Fungals, invading or left behind, in our bodies, may produce.
I hope to include this med when I am done with my Ketek,Alinia,Mepron combination. I will use it alone, so I won't put too much strain on my already stressed liver.
I have not had an elevation of liver enzymes to date, to indicate any problems with my liver. I have what is called a "FATTY" liver. My ducks tell me it is because of or the reason for my diabetes2, which I need to exercise away!
But, of course, they won't give me anything to combat my Chronic fatigue. They think I'm just lazy and lack will power or I am drug seeking!
Man, are they wrong. They should feel this fatigue/the urgent need to lie down, for just one day.
Then perhaps they would understand just WHAT the fatigue that comes with lyme is like.

my llmd told me yesterday, that diflucan does indeed kill lyme. He says Mepron does help kill lyme too. I thought it was only good for babs.

Diflucan has broad spectrum antibacterial/yeast/viral properties. It is often prescribed for lyme and is believed to have activity against cyst forms.

all i know is that when my doc gave me difulcan for yeast, i improved a lot.
whether it was also treating the lyme, i'm not sure, but i wanted him to continue it, and he wouldn't.
it sure did work tho.
i'm half tempted to go back in and claim yeast symptoms just to get it, but i won't.........

I took diflucan for 2 weeks straight and didn't notice any herxing or improvement on it... if it does kill lyme it doesn't do a good job of doing it

OK guys so here�s the scoop. type up borrelia plus fluconazole on yahoo or google. anyhow a doc in Germany found that antifugnals which inhibit the P450 enzyme are efefctive against borrelia too bc borrelia has a very primitive p450 defence. the protocal is based on 200 mg of fluconazole for 50 days and then 30 days on regular abx and rotate so forth for 6 months. this doc was very ill and now is well. I think hitting lyme takes hitting it from all directions

That sounds plausible bc bb is a protozoa partially hence antiprozoal meds like mepron may work
