Hi,
It seems to me that I am ridding myself of toxins, but that once they reach my bowel, they're being re-absorbed.
It seems possibly to be worse when I take Chlorella (more toxins leaving -- which is good). I find an increase of my neuro symptoms when my bowel is filling. If I go to the bathroom ASAP, sometimes I can halt the progression of neuropathy, vertigo, confusion, and then vomiting.
Is there some way to better bind the toxins?
I am on IM Bicillin, Mangosteen, Cell Food (colloidal minerals + oxygen), Chlorella. Maybe I should increase my water with lemon intake...I have got a bit slack with that one.
Tylenol seems to help everything, but I try to avoid taking anything "unnatural" as much as possible.
I apologize if the detail makes anyone uncomfortable.
Thx, and with best wishes,
CBL.

It's a subject we are all aquainted!
I have noticed stince starting on abx that I am showing IBS symptoms. Won't go for days, then WHAM, can't leave the bathroom.
I have been trying to stay up on it by taking supplements that keep things moving.
There is a really good tea that you can get at your health food store. It's by Traditional Medicinals and it's called Smooth Move.
Works gently overnight.
I've also started taking charcoal once a week. Don't know if it's helping yet, but I don't feel so brain wierd today.

Have you been tested for leaky gut syndrome?
Personally I take theralac to help aid in digestion.
I know the abx can do some number on our stomachs.

There goes my hip popping for no reason. Good thing I'm such a good observer, or I would be getting upset as every new symptom arises.
So...IBS: This was one of the diagnoses that doctors wanted to stick me with. I find it hard to believe IBS also involves nerve pain, vertigo attacks...I have been contemplating these days though, perhaps it has? Because who's trying to kid us; IBS is most likely Lyme.
So, seriously, are they dumping neuropathy, muscle cramping, vertigo, confusion, attacks that leave you exhausted, but are exascerbated by matter in your bowel, and somewhat relieved by expulsion IBS, because your GI is partly involved? I actually would like to know the latest on this so I can have ammo next time some apathetic foolhardy egotist decides to give IBS a go at me again.
"Smooth Move": Kelly, are you also experiencing the neuro symptoms at re-absorption, or uniquely constipation alternating with diarrhea and vomiting? I find I don't have constant diarrhea now, largely due to limiting my activities (= outdoor enthusiast and general joie de vivre type now housebound can rarely do chores) - but getting better, so better to limit activities and learn the lessons that ensue.
So please let me know what your IBS type symptoms are like, and if they're neuro, I'll try the Smooth Moove in a hurry.
If seibertneurolyme is reading, I would love to know how things are going with your husband on this note, as we seem to have similar issues in the neuro-gastro dept.
With best wishes to all,

Cholestyramine is used for binding toxins in the bowel and removing them. Also bentonite is good at binding toxins in the bowel. There is a recipe on curezone for bentonite and psyllium shakes. I don't know if these shakes bind biotoxins in particular but I know they are good at binding toxins. If you want it and can't find it, I'll send it to you privately.
If you are killing bugs, it is very important to use a biotoxin binder as well as a mercury/metal binder. I'm not a doctor, this is info that I've read and been told about by people who I trust.

Cholestyramine is what I'm taking to bind toxins. It prevents them from being reabsorbed, think of it as a bunch of mini-sponges.

Thank you all for your support
I've looked up Cholestyramine, and realize it's in the same class as the Walchol pills, etc. mentioned by Dr. B. So I'm assuming that's not on the menu for me at the moment, since I'm on abx.
This is what I've decided to do:
Since I'm noticing now a corellation between when I take the Chlorella and the toxins in my bowels increasing, I'm going to increase my dose of Chlorella x3 what I have been taking.
Let's hope that gives some relief.
Plodding along, in faith and a little bored but becoming a better person,
CBL.

Cholestyramine is often given while on abx but taken away from it so as not to affect the absorption of abx.

I received the inflammatory bowel label probably from the same place as you received your label even though we live miles away from each other.
Who knows it might just be parasites. I am not totally buying into the label of inflammatory bowel for myself but anything is possible and I do have a sensitive digestive track. I have been wanting to do a GI test for parasites but I am waiting until I go off all my antibiotics to do it.
I hope your problem clears soon. How have you been you have not posted here for a long time?
Pineapple and organic pineapple juice seem to help with many of my GI issues. I also find that certain cell salts work too.
For everyone trying to alkalize with lemon water consider buying a water ionizer when you have the extra money. I find mine makes a big difference in my health. I spent about $700 on mine but now I wish I had bought a even better one for $1000. Next time around....

I took Psyllium seed husk powder, and drank yarrow tea for theses kinds of problems- they worked miracles. Psyllium husk powder also functions to prevent re-absorption of toxins. DaveS

I like using Welchol, in the middle of the day, as far away from abx and supplements as possible. Seems to help a bit with herxes, and since it binds bile acids it should be removing some of the toxins.

Activated charcoal can be taken 2 hours away from meds
If you are able fasting is excellent to clear the bowel together with saline bowel flushes - You can buy on web
Also have you tried the detox foot pads?
Remember you will still eliminate a large amount of toxins through urine, so ensure you drink plenty of water all day with chlorella (I use Natures sunshine in water)and Burbur Detox. You will also sweat out toxins through the skin so Infared Sauna and Epsom Salt baths will help.
If you follow these measures it will lower the level of toxins hitting the bowel although activated charcoal and or welchol pills will help this.
Dont forget to detox your liver - Milk Thistle and Alpha Lipoic acid is amazing for this.

Thank you guys so much for the suggestions. I took an Epsom salt bath last night, and feel a bit better this AM (so far).
I am going to go through all these suggestions, and implement the ones I feel intuitively right for me.
I am going to ask Dr. S. next time I see him (Sept) what he thinks about using charcoal, and also the Cholestyramine, etc. It's not that long to wait, and there are all these other solutions in the meanwhile.
Vanilla -- thanks for asking It has been like being on a whitewater rafting trip. I am getting better overall, but hang on to the raft...there are short periods of calm (just like rafting), but shortly thereafter it's back to variously rated rapids...
My thinking is getting better, but these seizure-like events are still hanging on, which are prompted by:
Too much small motor control activity.
Walking more than 3 blocks.
Intense concentration
Light exposure
Reabsorption of toxins at bowel.
These events are a real show-stopper, and I'm left exhausted after each one.
However, I do not have _constant_ burning pain all over my body (now burning pain during the seizure like events), and I'm having fewer events that involve vomiting (2x/week vs. 3-5x per week; though last week w/ the heat wave here I threw up every day for 4 days in a row - 2wice on Thursday, and had terrible burning pain all week. This was also prompted by extended sitting in a storage locker while directing "traffic" on what to be gotten rid of to save space - I thought I was well enough now to do it - apparently not - I was so sick for this past week afterwards).
Another clear improvement is I have begun being able to read again! This is a huge indicator for me - it's been at least 3 years.
I just wish all the rest of it would stop, but as long as I'm seeing improvement, I'm being patient (have we any choice?), and trying various and sundry to figure out how to do as much as possible, considering how little I can do.
Wishing you all a health-filled and pain-free day; with best wishes,
CBL.

You've made me suspect that I may have the same problem as you. I just started Chlorella last week.
I was fine the first day-- it actually seemed like it was doing a good job sweeping things up in my colon. (Trying not to be graphic-- sorry!)
But then 3 days later, I started vomiting violently and could not keep anything down. I've also been constipated. Like you say, it feels like there's a build-up of toxins.
Needless to say, I stopped the Chlorella and doubled my probiotics. Still vomiting, though.
I think the Chlorella was doing something good, stirring things up, it's just too much for my body right now.

Hint:
If you can induce dihareia the absorption will be reduced. As you know, if you have no gall bladder this is very easy to do (just skip a meal or two). If you have a gall bladder and want to try an experiment, you can go to the drug store and buy the stuff that is used the night before a GI xray. That will clear out everything in short order... then don't eat anything. If you don't notice any change then my guess is that the re-absorption theory is not valid.
It might be worth a try.....

If you want to induce diarreah, the product I have used that really works is OxyPowder.

Gosh -- Will this ever end? Now _inducing_ diarrhea. We are highly motivated folk.
Scott and other proponents of diarrhea induction:
Are you saying that if we induce diarrhea with the Chlorella, we don't give ourselves a chance to reabsorb the toxins at the bowel, because they -- ahem -- "don't have a chance to hang around"?
Hi Ellie K:
I read previously that Chlorella is very tricky: you have to take _enough_ of it. Last time I used Chlorella, I was taking 2.5g / day (in one shot). That was fine then, but maybe I am now experiencing what a number of others have complained about when they didn't take sufficient Chlorella (I've been on abx longer now). So, in a couple of days when things settle (and I feel I am ready for boxing match 801, round 2), I'm going to try 2.5g x 3/ day (1/2 hour before meals), and see what happens.

Sorry for teh incorrect spelling ( usually don't look to close at what I have written)
In any case, with totally liquid bowel movements you don't even re-absorb minerals for an electrolyte balance... thus the gator aid trick with little kids. Basically the process of inducing diarrhea inhibits the absorption in the small intestine... thus the high moisture content into the large intestine and the water out of the end of the system.
Erythromycin (the antibiotic)creates a similar effect via the blood stream by increasing the motility of the small intestine, thus increasing the speed of transit. It is sometimes used in GI surgery in cases of ileus.
There was some talk about the re-absorption of fat bound lyme produced neuro toxins (or more specifically neuro transmistter inhibitors)and that questran or an equivalent hydrophillic compound would be of help. I don't hear much about this any more so I don't know if it has stood the test of time.

Canbravelyme,
I am so glad you are making some improvements! Keep up the good work. Hopefully some of your other symptoms will leave soon too.
Let me know what dates you are heading this way.
What about aloe juice anyone would that be good?

i have had GI issues from the start with lyme and coinfections.
Paragone is a parasite cleanse from Renew Life. It has two antimalarial herbs and four antispirochetal herbs in it. It is not designed for tick borne illness but for intestinal parasites.
Nonetheless I am having herx like symptoms on it. It is designed to take every 4-6 months if necessary.
I have chosen not to take it with any antibiotics or other medication because interactions could occur since it is loaded with many herbs.
I also take psyllium powder by Yerba Prima that I really like. It helps to detoxify too.
I hope you feel better soon.
