Has anyone tried this combo for Bart and Lyme?? It does not seem very popular.
I have not been able to find any info this particular combo by searching through previous posts.
I would appreciate hearing others' experiences with Mino (and ideally Rifampin with it). My LLMD warned me that Mino can cause dizziness and possibly greying skin. Does not sound like fun, but I will probably start tomorrow if I can work up the courage.
I'm feeling a little disheartened today because my LLMD seemed to think that I should have made more progress than I have with my Bart treatment.
I have only been treating my TBI's for 2 months (first Rifampin+Septra, then Levaquin). I felt a little better after the Rifampin, but I feel like I'm backsliding on the Levaquin.
It seems that things are moving slowly, considering that I was infected less than a year ago. I know this has been discussed a lot, but I am always curious to hear how long it took people to kick Bart.
(Also: My LLMD also wants to do a viral panel. What's this all about??)
Of course, I have not begun treating Lyme yet. Maybe the abx killed off most of the bart, but allowed Lyme to start creeping out and that's why I feel worse than before treatment??
It's hard to distinguish between Bart and Lyme symptoms. I still have burning hands and feet, popping skin, parathesias, which seem very bart-like.
Argh.... thanks everyone...

Why did your llmd change your meds after one month and now you are switching back to rifampin again?
I took levaquin and ceftin for my bart for almost three months at the start of my treatment. It was a good combo for me and I actually ended my treatment with this same combo for 9 weeks.
I was on abx for 14 months and have been symptom-free almost six months now. I continue with herbs and supplements.
My son and many others I know are doing rifampin, doxy and zith for bart. My son has been on this for close to 5 months.
For me the levaquin hit the bart and the ceftin hit the lyme. I think doctors choose combos to work on Bb plus the co- infection. Also I have read it is good to stay on the same meds for some months before changing.
Each llmd is different and our tolerance is individual. I could not tolerate mino, yet my youngest son has been on it for months. (Multiple family members being treated.)

Often viruses that have been in check in our bodies kind of surface so a viral panel is good.

Hi Ellie,
That was one of the best combinations I have done. It intensified my symptoms at first, then changed them, such as, the dizziness of four years went from spinning and feeling I was moving back and forth, to making me feel I was swaying side to side.
After two months, the dizziness let up by 85%. Ceftin was added and I gradually declined over the next 4 months. Then all abx were stopped.
I also did Plaquenil with this combo. Since stopping meds., the 15% dizziness is still there. I hope to go back to the Mino and Rifampin at some point to end the dizziness completely. There are other factors to consider at this point though. Good Luck

I know there have been other threads on here in the past where at least Rifampin was discussed. I have tried the Rifampin/ Mino combination on two occasions and had a very, very hard time with it. I think it was just too strong for me or something. I couldn't tolerate it so I had to stop both times, which is disappointing since that means it was probably doing its job!

Hubby hasn't done that combo, Ellie. So I'm not sure. Rifampin really did a number on my hubby, but he did it with flagyl pulses.
I have read some posts that said when people stopped the Rifampin, it was hard to go back on it again. I'm really not sure why.
Take care.
