Not looking for medical advise, just opinions.

Does anyone else take their prescribed antibiotics (I am on Doxcy 100 mg 2x day right now) along with natural antibiotics such as Samento and cumanda?

Just wondering if adding these would hurt anything or cause any conflicts with my abx.

I go see my LLMD for the first time next Wed and I am sure he will either up the doxcy or change it.

Thanks! Tara

Hi Dizzygirl,

Husband has been doing this, with LLMD's blessing. He currently takes Zithromax and Malarone, as well as herbs from Buhner's protocol (Cat's claw, andrographis, smilax/sarsaparilla, and resveratrol).

His perception is that the herbals have their own effect, especially the Cat's Claw.

warm wishes,
Aviva

I think I heard somewhere that vinegar has antibiotic properties?

The main thing is to "feel" good again, and that is what the herbs do the best.

I quit the abx and went herbs only a long time ago and sure am glad I did.

Can herbs alone work or are abx needed first?

There are many many posts on natural treatments, herbs only or mixed, search for Buhner protocol, Cowden herbs like Cumanda etc, samento etc.

You'll find lots of interesting things. I'm for herbs basically, but I don't deny short term antibiotics (specially when I get bitten). I find herbs have advantages concerning keeping the GI tract bacteries mostly intact and acting in multifold ways.

My LLMD starts with abx and many supplements to support the immune system. Then he switches to herbs after 12-18 months.

His opinion is that you need to beat down the bacterial load with the abx, then switch over.

I'm on some herbs now, but not natural abx. I'm on things like mushrooms, broccoli sprouts, etc. Immune builders.

I would ask your LLMD. You want him to know everything you're taking.
