My sister's ANA levels were low. She now shows a negative ANA after being treated for malaria by her GP.
She is also positive for Epstein-Barr virus.
She is going to a LLMD now who is treating her for Lyme, but I am curious if LOW levels of antinuclear antibodies could also be an indication of the presence of Lyme.
The reason I ask is because I see a lot of people here tested positive for ANA - but those levels were high.
Thanks!

Mine were also low. I think its a good sign, when your ANA levels are high it meens your body is attacking itself! You dont want that to happen, it meens the your immune system is attacking everything in your body.
High ANA levels are common in people with autoimmune diseases. Since lyme lowers immunity it can increase ANA levels. Glad your sisters are low.

ANA - anti-nuclear antibodies are present in autoimmune diseases. It's "normal" for them to be low.
