Comparison of WNV cases in 2007 vs. Lyme Disease
While the dates aren't exact, you get the drift.
West Nile Virus, Jan 1 2007 - July 24, 2007 No. of U.S. cases reported to the CDC = 122
Lyme Disease, Jan 1 - August 4, 2007 No. of U.S. cases reported to the CDC = 7,994
SHOW me the money Bush!!!!

When I started writing letters to the media last week I said just this! Everyone is reaking out over EEE/WNV but your community is at a much greater risk from Lyme disease!

It's not just the feds - try calling your local health dept - state, county, city - and ask how much they spend on on WNV prevention. I know the county I work for has spent between $100k and $250k per year on this - but nothing on Lyme Disease education or prevention despite it being endemic.
