I've heard from a couple other people that they too have tailbone pain.

Has anyone heard of this being linked to lyme disease?

Do you have it?

My tailbone pain started probably a month or so after I started getting sick. I've never had this problem before. I've been sick now for 8 or so months and I still have the pain. When it first started hurting me I thought it was because of the way I was sitting on the couch -- I always sit the same way -- but after 8 months it still hurts, so I am pretty sure it's not linked to sitting a certain way.

I will definitely bring this up to my LLMD next time I see him.

Disturbed, this is often a lyme symptom but it's also common with babesia.

Lyme & Company often settles in previously disturbed areas. I had the tailbone problem badly. I had survived more than a few falls skiing and also took a couple of flyers down the stairs at night. That happened long before Lyme. Mine was treated very effectively with Neural Therapy when I had Lyme (www.neuraltherapy.com)

Eliminating the scars, damaged tissue, etc. can today also be very easily treated with cold laser and FIR lasering. And also certain vibrators to free the scar tissue and help lymphatic flow.

My chiropractor utilizes the GRT (Gonzalez Rehabilitation Technique - which is a jewel -- the technique and the chiro). She also uses KST = Koren Specific Technique - to work cranial bones and entire spinal column. No cracking or popping of joints. It is especially nice as it is done in connection with ART to determine the exact location (which facial nerve??? which muscle??)

You might look it up if you are not familiar with these. If you decide on any good chiropractic, be prepared with mop-up agents (chlorella, etc.) because you are going to knock loose a few critters!

Hope your pain disappears soon like mine did.

Take care.

I didn't know this pain was common with Babesia. I've really been wondering if I have it even though I tested negative.

NP40, where did you hear about this connection?

What I find strange is that it always parallels the intensity of my fevers. When the fevers go up, it becomes almost intolerable.

They told me in the E.R. (back in March) that it hurt because I had strained my back while vomiting, which just does not seem plausible to me at all.

If I had indeed strained it, it would be gone by now.

hi disturbeme

I agree with GiGi in that lyme sometimes likes to take up residence in areas of your body that have had previous injuries.

I blew out a disc in my back & had to have surgury aprox 5/6 years ago. After surgury was the start of my last really big lyme relapse. Now, when I am herxing or having a bad lyme flare, the pain hits me first in my lower back where my injury was & in my tail bne. The pain can be way off the charts. And then travels to all over joint & muscle pain.

I am also very thin. I think from my co-infection ~ babs. Being that I have not much "padding" in the end department. So sitting seems to make my back & taill bone pain worse.

I am sorry to say in my case, 4 years of treatment hasn't gained me much relef for this problem. Moist heat & staying off my back & tail bone does the most good for now.

I just started to rife "lower back & tail bone pain" settings....with my back to my machine. Time will tell if this approach is going to help.
I am encouraged this week after rifing on sunday, my back pain was a tinny bit better.

Good luck to you. This kind of pain really stinks & my heart goes out to you [group hug]

I would mention this to your LLMD and.or MD. I had it and found a small pimple in the area. It turned out to be a Pilonidal cyst, which had to be drained.

5dana8,

My lumbar-sacral spine was previously injured (severe disk degeneration, worst at L5-S1), and the initial Lyme infection seemed to attack there first.

I can still remember the terrible burning pain like a flaming dagger shoved into the low back. The chronic pain is horrible enough but is not as bad as was the 1st infection.

I see virtually identical medical histories repeated here day after day. How much antecdotal evidence does it take to wake up the mainstream's so-called drs.?

Best of luck to all,
Dave

I have Babs & Lyme. I had a horrendous bout of tailbone pain immediately following the absolute worst headache of my entire life (and I've had some doozies!).

I went to the ER, fearing it might be bacterial meningitis or encephalitis(couldn't get LLMD on weekend). All the duck was worried about was if it was a pilonidal cyst.

X-rays showed nothing, so they deemed it was a Coccyx sprain (though I had done nothing to sprain it), and sent me on my way.

They gave me a small script for Naproxen Sodium (Aleve, but 500 mg.), which I finally took. That, a soft ice-pack & sitting on a donut seemed to help.

They also gave me a small script for Vicoden, which I was afraid to take without consulting LLMD, and a referral to an Orthopedist duck for follow up(fat chance).

I don't know if the things I did helped or Babs/Lyme Tx did. Maybe I was herxing? I really can't remember what I was Txing at the time, but it did pass in a couple of days.

Must have been either a Lyme or Babs thing. The pain was so horrendous that my knees buckled out from under me when ER duck poked it. I almost landed on the floor. Thank goodness I caught the bed & table. I'm really glad that passed.

Maybe try the soft ice-pack, sitting on a donut & taking some Aleve? I'm really sorry you've got to deal with that. It's a real pain in the a$$! [Roll Eyes] (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Hope you feel better soon.
[hi]

Yep, I've got it, and just recently...like in the last two years. I've not had any previous injuries to the tailbone area.
