When are you supposed to feel better if you get diagnosed early and start doxcy? When should you begin to worry that the abx are not working? I supposedly have an active early infection that was caught. I received 3 shots of rocephin and started doxcy within 14 - 20 days after symptoms flared and positive diagnosis... I'm in my 3rd week of doxcy - BUT I DON'T FEEL BETTER! I'm sorry - but I'm already sick of feeling sick and tired (patience was never my greatest virtue...) Isn't Lyme sort of like strep throat - in that you should begin to feel better in the first week after taking meds? AARRGGHHHH

well, hanily, lyme is GOING TO TEACH YOU PATIENCE as it has done the rest of us whether you want it or not! it wasn't mine either; but i've been adjusting as needed.
you may not feel well for quite sometime; i shouldn't say that as i never KNEW i had lyme when i was bitten! no tick; no rash; just sick and dx with mono/EBV.
with chronic lyme from what i've read on the board is at least 6 MONTHS if not longer..

By early, do you mean as soon as you got bitten?
If not, then it might take quite some time to feel better. And, unfortunately, no, it's not like strep throat. With Lyme you get worse before you get better ... the die-off causes herxheimer reactions that make you feel worse.
You will definately learn patience with this. It's a long, slow process. There is no quick cure.
If you're in your third week, you should feel a herx soon, and after the herx, you should feel a little bit better ... it works that way after each herx.
