I was just in the sixth month of IV's and 10 days of Flagyl. I had it in the previous months but nothing compared to this herx. I thought I was dying...it feels like it...unreal!!!!
The neurological pain was excruiating. It started in my eyes, went back down my head, spine, out to the limbs and finger & toe tips.
I laid in the fetal position, crying. My neurologist tried several pain meds, nothing did a thing. So I went to the ER and got me very drugged up to the point of vomiting.
I could hardly walk, everything hurt. It was second only to natural childbirth. Unfortunately the pain lasted for several days and then a normal herx, feeling like crap (normal) for weeks.
One thing that did work was Lorazepam, an anti anxiety rather than a pain killer. It did help and docs are more apt to give u that. I read about that on here after I got home from the ER.
It also made me dehydrated too.
I was hoping this was the Devil's Door to Remission. That is pain has to lead to something really GREAT, right? ; )

Flagyl in my opinion is very hard on the body. When I herx from that I get so weak I can not move. My brain is also non-functioning and all I do is lay in bed because of the pain. Hang in there thoguh, it will get better!

Savebabe - Keep an eye on that foot pain. Mine started as foot pain - like raw nerve endings kind of pain - followed by turning bright red; followed soon after by a fem-fem bypass due to blockages in the illeax.(sorry, spelling)It's the main arteries from navel, splits off to go L & R to legs.
Flagyl is very strong & nearly killed me. If your foot turns brite red immeadeatly after taking flagyl I would stop it at once. Ellavating foot will not help, in fact will make it more painful....
This all happened to me after about 2 to 3 weeks on it. Please be careful, it is hard on the arteries!
