What do people do to get rid of headaches?

I've had a headache since Thursday. It's mostly in the front of my head, and there's a spot above my left eye that feels bruised to the touch, might be slightly inflamed.

I've tried vicodin, zanaflex, keeping hydrated and caffeine (the caffeine when the hydration didn't help). The vicodin reduces it a bit, but doesn't get rid of it.

Thanks for suggestions.

For an acute HA event, butalbital works nicely for me.

I've also decreased the number of HA events by reducing my vitamin 1,25D levels, which are typically high in lymies at the same time the more-frequently-measured 25D is low. I accomplished that by reducing light exposure and dietary vitamin D intake.

Hi,
Don't take this pain under your eye lightly! I've had weird symptoms for 2 months now. Twitches, night jerks, Severe headaches, and a pain in the corner of my eye, under my brow just like the one you are discribing. My vision is pinched and blurry.
I've also heard "there's no Lyme here"
If you haven't been to a eye doctor make an appointment ASAP. I just did they found at 48yrs old, I have optic nerve damage in my half of my left eye, which might continue until I'm blind!!! It looks like glucoma, but tests for that were neg. She said I was way to young to be seeing this. I asked her if Lymes could cause this, and she said yes, especially with my other symptoms. No other doctor seems to take seriously. But now I have something that they can see (no pun)I'm scared to death.
Please go to a rep. eye doc, ASAP just for your piece of mind.
Jelled bags that you can freeze helps my head and I'm taking excedrine migraine, but nothing at the moment helps at all times. I hope you feel better. Have you been diagnosed?
Ok have a good day and try those gel thingies, the drug store will have them.

Thank you both.

Wendy - it's not pain under my eye. It's above my eye, and not really that close to my eye. I get regular visits with an eye doctor, and a retina specialist, because of Plaquenil use. My eyes are fine.

I am diagnosed and have been in treatment for over 3 years. My headaches mostly went away when I discovered a soy allergy and cut out soy. I just want to get rid of this one headache that's been around over 48 hours.

From the position it sounds like your frontal sinus. Could you have a sinus infection? I would try a warm water with salt wash (Neti pot, or there are now "westernized" copies) to clear out your sinuses. Sudafed and ibuprofen really help too if this is the problem.
