I am Australian and have contracted Lyme disease here in California. I am needing to go home to Australia and would greatly appreciate getting in touch with anyone living in Australia who has Lyme or had Lyme disease.
I would greatly appreciate any contacts or leads folks can provide.
Many thanks, Georgina

1. In the past, someone was asking on the "seeking a doctor" forum, that was from Australia. If you do a search for Australia on the seeking forum, the posting may come up.
Then you may be able to contact them, via pm (click on the envelope by their name).
2. There is someone from China, who travels to the West Coast for treatment.
3. At one point, I googled "lyme Australia". There is a lyme or lyme like illness there. I believe I ran into a blog or website. If you do the same google, it may come up with a contact.
My impression was that it was more difficult to find someone to treat than in the U.S,
4. If you have a primary in Australia who is open minded, you may be able to go to ILADS website and find Burrascano guidelines. They also can be found on this site if you do a search.
5. Or, you can find a West Coast (Ca) dr. who will work with your primary in Australia. That way, you may not have to fly so much. Sometimes it is better to have someone more experienced leading/guiding the troups.
If you have not located a Ca. dr., check the support groups on left side of this page, to find someone for a referral. Or check the CALDA website.
Beware the IDSA guideline advocates....many drs. in the U.S. think they are the truth, and their guidelines have hurt many people. (in lyme and other tick borne diseases). A dr. in Australia may follow IDSA, not knowing about the ILADS experience.
I hope you are not waiting to return to Aus. to start treatment.
Hope this helps somewhat.
North.

Hello North - many thanks for the ideas and thoughts. I have been travelling to the East Coast for my treatment (with very well known LLMD). He will continue to oversee my treatment, but we need a local MD in Australia who will prescribe and monitor etc. etc. Nothing is easy with this disease!!!!!
Many thanks again for your thoughts, Georgina
