I have been on levaquin for 1 week, minor herxing. Does Bart form into cysts? I did not do a bart test, but my llmd says since my symptoms are mostly cns, I most likely have it and will treat for it.

Hi Jenin,

I don't think it forms into cysts but ... I am quoting here from the article "Ignore Bartonella and Die" by James Schaller, MD:

"Bartonella biotoxins seem to turn off the immune system and the inflammation system in some parts, which allows it to hide even with large numbers in the bloodstream. Bartonella also appears to occasionally be able to make biofilms to protect itself from antibiotics."

Lovely, eh? It's a tricky one, that Bartonella.

Try searching on pubmed for the keywords [biofilm serratiopeptidase] and see what comes up.

The research listed there seems to indicate that taking serapeptase along with your antibiotics may increase their effectiveness against biofilm protected bacteria.

Does that mean stronger herx? I don't know. I do know that I have "needed" to take 6-9 capsules of vitalzym every day ever since I began the battle against these infections.

Hi Tosho,

In the article he says that the Bartonella book (The Diagnosis and Treatment of Bartonella) is being published later this year. I can't wait either!
