Went to my PCP today for 3 month follow up, and when I mentioned Lyme Disease, he told me that there is nothing that can be done and that I just have to learn to live with it. What a pessimistic attitude that is!!

I also showed him a picture of a Bartonella rash and he told me that the picture is when bartonella is in a full flare up. He said that bartonella rashes do not come and go...is that true? I went to his office a month ago with the same bartonella rash on my leg...the doctor on call said it was wierd and prescribed a corisone cream for me. [Eek!]

To top it off I showed him pictures of the eye when they are infected with Lyme Disease. He told me that those pictures are not proof..you would need to have an actual biopsy of the eye to prove it is Lyme induced. Is that true? I have cystoid macular edema and hole, and that dx was given to me by 3 Opthomologists and all 3 told me that the dx is Lyme induced. Why do specialists say I have Lyme and PCP just does not seem to care? [bonk]

On the way out and in the hallway I told him that I am still very depressed. He said, "You do not look depressed." Seems I should look for another PCP...grrr. He rushed me through the whole visit. [shake]

I am stumped and just do not know where to turn anymore. LLMDs are far from me, but I am still looking. I am in KY.

Thanks for listening,

Hugs, Perplexed [confused]

You just have a straw man, not a real doc...

You need a LLMD. Ask Mac MacDOnald of Lymeblog- isn't TN near Kentucky??? (bad at geography)

Near enough to drive???

I would not bother with that guy again!!!!!!!

DOn't give up*)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are worth the effort!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought you were seeing the dr in MO?

Why did you see this PCP? If it was for Lyme treatment....forget it! Ain't a-gonna happen!!

He obviously wants nothing to do with your treatment. [shake]

Perplexed,

Sadly, your type of story is more common than you may think. Our PCP's have no clue about lyme and will find every excuse in the book to call our symptoms everything but that.

If you don't have an LLMD, get yourself to one as soon as possible. If you are in need of one, post a note in the section looking for doctors for the ones closest to you.

In these cases, it's really best to go with a doctor that specializes in lyme. Just as you would go to a cardiologist if it was your heart.

Please keep us posted on how it goes. Sadly the best advice I can offer is to stop feeding your PCP more money to make his wallet heavier as yours gets lighter for him to give you the run around you are obviously getting.

Good luck and hopefully you can get on treatment with a specialist that understands what you are dealing with.
