I know this isn't pretty, but it is an issue. Do to lack of fiber, I have not been able to move my bowels for the last month. About every 4-5 days I have take a laxitive. Tried ex-lax, I have to take six. LLMD wasn't thrilled, he said to use the fiber powder stuff, but it just gives me gas and bloating.

So now I'm trying Dulcolax, I've taken 5 in the last 48hrs, no real improvement. What to do?

Also, after I had my bout with double vision last week (4.5 hrs), my vision seems to be getting much more blurry. I couldn't even thread a needle, which used to be easy.
[confused]

Gads, that's a real problem. They need to be moving frequently, or you won't be able to flush the toxins building up in your body.

I'll PM you.

Large doses of magnesium and Vitamin C. I take 6000 mg a day of vitamin c, my doctor wants me to take more but my bowels can't handle it.

Look up side effect s of all of your meds and see if any cause constipation. You might need to replace some with other alternatives.

If you're serious and it's been a month with no bowel movement....you are a walking talking toxic explosion about to happen. Oh my goodness. No wonder you are seeing double. As some would say, you are full of it.

All this year I've been having constipation once a week. For you going 6 out of 7 days would be great relief, but for me it caused other issues on top of it. Lots of gas and bloating everyday also, even if my bowels moved.

After some searching and reading on this site, I decided to try a very strong probiotic. I purchased highest quality at GNC. The recommended dose daily is one capsule and I decided that dose is for the healthy person, so I'm doing 2 a day.
I finally read and understood that acidolophus is not potent enough after many years.

It took about 2 weeks to see a difference and it is amazing. Even though this subject is not the easiest to discuss it is very important.

As backed up as you are....you really need to see a doctor for immediate relief and make some real changes to your diet and check out posts here recently on good quality probiotics. I just finished my first 100 count bottle and it cost me $44, but so worth it.

Hi EWT,

Try and find some Cascara Sagrada in your local health food store even GNC carries it. It will stimulate you gentlely (sp)Take it with plenty of water.

Have your blood pressure and heart rate checked as soon as possible. I have heard of people going that long without a BM but only if it's a familial trate... otherwise it can be considered very dangerous.

Also, if this persists go to your local doc or ER they may want you to get an enema.

Please don't wait,,

Blessings,

Julia

my doctor recommended an over the counter product called "miralax." it's a white powder that has no taste at all. you take about one capful in a glass of water.

it is not a laxative but a stool softener. works great and no cramping or pain.

pretty cheap too.

Yes, and Wal Mart has a reasonably priced stool softener with or without a stimulant. You can take the non-stimulant kind everyday.

A good probiotic is a must. Maybe that's part of your problem??

I use Theralac and absolutely love it! Best probiotic I've ever taken.

Thanks!

PubMed cites multiple reports of Lyme-induced intracranial hypertension (aka pseudotumor cerebri). The pressure in your head builds up including in your optic nerve. This causes the optic nerve head to swell. This is called papilledema. It can cause blurry vision and, if severe enough, blindness. The tetracyclines and the fluoroquinolones can also provoke ICH. If you want to be evaluated for the possibility of ICH, see a neuroopthalmologist who has a fundoscope. Just an idea.

Thanks everybody. Answers: I took heavy doses every 4-5 days, usually about the 6-7th day it would work. Then I ended up in the ER (LLMD told me "go now!")due to the double vision and walking like a drunk. Then the lax stopped working.

I do take Theralac. I will look around for the other suggestions, thanks guys. [bow]

I too use to have this problem in very severe case. Since my LLMD didn't want me getting hooked on laxatives, (meaning I wouldn't be able to go in the future without them), he tried all sorts of things.

Mostly things like various magnesium products, CalMag (a liquid) that worked for awhile, but eventually even that wasn't working as it was suppose to be.

I was run through all sorts of genetic testing and was told that part of my problem was that I couldn't detox normally, which he felt was part of the problem.

Soooooo....the best solution I have been given up to this point is Colonics from a registered nurse. I got in one, two or three times a week depending on how things are going. It's not cheap, but it does help get the toxins moving out of your body.

I know I've had horrid vision issues with this, but since I'm also being treated for bart, I just assumed it was from that, but imagine that being toxic would do the same thing and perhaps that's more the culprit.

I know when I'm faithful with my Colonic's, my vision clears up usually and I don't feel nearly as toxic and sick but everytime I keep trying to stretch appointments further apart, I get back in trouble.

Not sure if this will help you but you could talk to your doctor about it. It stirs up all sorts of things so you feel pretty wiped the next day, but I do imagine without it, I was going to be hitting a brick wall in very short order. You have to DETOX and if you can't do it......

Good luck.

Cathy

Magnesium to bowel tolerence. I use magnesium glycinate, as it is chelated and doesn't hurt tummy.

Toxic build up leads to immune suppression, which leads to increased kooties like Lyme and Babesia causing more blurred vison in my experience.

Stephania can help, but start very slow as it can cause major herx.

Also, it seems to me that backed up colon leads to higher liver toxicity that leads to higher blood toxicity which means more crud in the blood (fibrin) that some say can lead to more eye floaters/blurriness. It is just a theory that I'm piecing together from my own research and struggle with same.

I too have this problem. My LLMD recommended Senakot and Colace. I buy the generic and take 4 Senna and 2 colace every night. His suggestion was half dose in morning, half at night, but I find that taking it at night works better. I am prepared to be on this for the duration. I have always had problems, even before this disease. And I do take probiotics and drink gallons of water every day.
