Has anyone experienced severe knee pain due to synovitis. From what I understand it has damaged the cartilage which is permanent.

As a result I was offered injections of synvisc which lasts about 6 months and cushions the joints lessening the pain.

I was concerned about it traveling to other parts of the body or side effects. I am not sure if that is possible though.

Any input please.

Tick it out,

Prior to my Knee total replacements bilatterally.I was prescribed synvisc for my knees. For me it worked for about a year.

Of course I had some other form of it injected into my knees by the VA.

FOr all practical purposes these shots did give me some relief. Decreasing in length of time of relief from one year to 2months.

However they were never the same.

I had bone on bone contact on each knee prior to surgery. So, yes they helped but eventually I had to have the surgery anyway.

Why not go for the surgery now. Depending where you get yours done...it may not hurt as much.

Good luck whichever way you choose

Thanks FDX...could you please tell me approx. how long these shots were effective. I know everyone is different and it also depends on the severity of the condition.

I guess you are right about getting surgery over with however with all the other problems involving lyme I don't know if my body could tolerate it.

A very low white count isn't a good thing to go into surgery with along with so many other problems.

How did you do post surgery? Did you have lyme at the time of surgery? There are many variables that really frighten me.
