Living with pain and fatigue for nine years, I suspected I had Lyme disease, and was finally diagnosed several months ago. After taking Doxy for three months, we added Cefuroxime Axetil. (Ceftin) Six hours after my first dose of Cefuroxime Axetil, while watching TV, the vitrious gel in the back of my eye collapsed, one click short of a retinal tear. Has anyone heard of retinal tears or detachments happening with these medications or with Lyme disease?

Also, last December, I had accute appendicitis. Any connection to Lyme?

Thanks!

Just as a note: I've been on ceftin as my primary anibiotic for about 2 years and have never had any adverse visual symptoms.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you!

Hi all,
I have not been on the abx that you are talking about, but I did have to have an emergency appendectomy a little over a year ago. I have wondered a lot if there was any connection to Lyme. I wasn't sure if it was even something that I should bring u[ to my LLMD. I mean once it's done, it's done, right? Or is it some thing that LLMD's should know about?
