The San Diego Lyme Support Group is sponsoring a Lyme Awareness Walk on October 6th from 4-6 p.m. at Embarcadero Marina Park North near Seaport Village.
The walk is about two miles and most importantly we will be walking in front of the San Diego Convention Center where the IDSA will be having their convention.
The walk will also be trying to draw attention to the fact that there are many Californians who are suffering with Lyme. We will be carrying a memento with the name of a Californian with Lyme disease. If you are a Californian who suffers from Lyme and would like your name to be included in the walk, please forward your first name, the initial of your last name and your city to: [email protected].
I have a flyer that can be filled out for those who would like to donate and/or participate. If someone more computer literate could tell me how to post it, I would appreciate it.

Maybe by Lyme standards it's long but compared to some of the AIDS, cancer, walks it's not too long. The reason it's about two miles is we have to start out at the park and then walk to the convention center. If someone feels the distance is too far, they could always meet us at the convention center. Our main focus is to be seen at the convention center.

Would like to add to those who will send in their names to be carried for the walk, please include how long you have suffered from lyme with your first name and last initial.
We will be carrying lime green balloons, and for those who register for the walk through CALDA, they will be getting a "Ticks Suck" lime green t-shirt to wear as well. We will end the walk with a candle lighting cermony in honor of those suffering with lyme.
WE are trying to create a media event, and gain some awareness and credibility among the medical community by walking to the convention center.
We do not want anyone to behave badly-very important that we are courtious, polite, and orderly. We do not want to be portrayed as fanatics.
Please participate in any way you can, and email me directly if you would like the flyer sent to you. [email protected] THANKS

Brooke Landau will be speaking briefly at the San Diego Lyme Walk, as well as participating at the walk. This is going to be a great event, and we can make a difference for those suffering with lyme. We need to be united and have our facts straight. Credible and yet passionate. Come on down to beautiful San Diego for the day, and help make history with us!
