tincup, when i read your title, what did i do NOW on the board? thought i'd been behaving myself.
yes, those angel wings would have come in handy wed. night at the hospital! so embarrassed. i'll try to go to support to copy my comments here from there so others are wondering, what the heck happened?
i'm doing better typing now with this splint on only if i leave it lose enough so my short fingers can peek out of this 12" long velcro straps; better than the earlier ones for carpal tunnel that are worn out for both of my hands.
2-3 weeks being without my regular DISTANCE glasses is going to be a bummer. thank god i have 3 other pairs each for their own thing: pc, reading, and my deep dark RX sunglasses. my eyes are realing feeling the strain though w/sunglsses on while watching tv.
but if i had to accidentally fall, the hospital is the place to do it.
but, seriously, tc, thx for kind words.
hubby told me to throw those expensive sandles away.

i took a bad fall tonight leaving hospital auditorium. my sandles got stuck on tile floor, and shoe game off leaving me balancing to try to stay up. no luck, head fell into a pillar, eyeglass bow broke off.
scratches to side, above/below eye, bite my lip, right wrist hurts awful but no bones sticking out, scrapped front of right knee bad. 3 people had to help me up all because i didn't have the back of the sandle strap on but pushed up towards toes! i'm going to have a shiner tomorrow. using ice galore on all my hurt areas.
i go today for annual eye exam! talk about timing. ************

i iced my injured right wrist from 8 pm - 2 am. tried to sleep, but it hurt every position i got into.
got up 1030 and called old pcp's office; they gave me static since my pcp retired and i can't get into new doc until NOV for establish relationship! finally oncall dr. would order xray of wrist. later, asked hospital to cancer those xrays.
since this happened outside of aud at HOSPITAL, i called 1st nurse for their advise, and she said to report it tp their admin which i did.
i was transferred to quality control supr. who've met. she was concerned and transferred me to her subordinate ... come into ER now; register, and tell them this will be HANDLED BY QUALITY CONTROL.
in there 4 hrs. had xrays of wrist and my knee cap. NO BROKEN BONES THANK YOU GOD.
badly sprained wrist; put a splint on like i've never had before. must wear fulltime for 1 wk. and then wear less building up strength in it.
dr. said xrays showed degenerative arthritis changes too.
he did simple eye test; follow the finger, etc.
i hadn't eaten after getting up, so had him order me a full meal tray taking TWO HOURS to get there with COLD food supposed to be hot. RN heated it up.
meanwhile while i was waiting fr test results and food; supposed to have 230 appt. across st. so i walked over there. SURPRISE?! they told me it was canceled, and they sent postcards out in may which I NEVER RECEIVED! told them they should call.
so went back to er; no food yet; had them check again. meanwhile, doc came in.
wants me to check w/new dr's. office next week for a followup of er visit. any problems, call him back!
put heat on 20 minutes, get plenty of rest, etc.
the woman taking my xrays is from NJ and her daughter there still has LYME having PICC in future. we had quite a talk!
so then went to PEARL VISION eye dept. i thought they could just replace broken bow. NO WAY! no extra bows that would fit my frames.
so NEW FRAME; they can't cut down my very thick lenses! so new lenses.
then i had her call eye dr. as she said new ones would have to be ordered and take 2-3 WEEKS to do my heavy prescription! so i picked out 2 frames that the said looked good on this white-haired middle-aged lady! got price for them.
called hospital quality control lady leaving message what the cost would be, and asked how they wanted to handle paying this bill since they were broken on-site. asked her to just email me.'
so i'll be wearing my really dark rx sunglasses for 2-3 wks. plus my reading and computer lenses.
so they worked me in next tues. am for my annual eye exam for lyme/diabetes/catarachts, and now to look at my eye good since my thick lenses cut my eye pretty good!
i'm getting a pretty good shiner.
everyone asked why i didn't report it then; just too embarrased with 3 folks helping me get up.
as i learn more, i'll fill you in.
they were concerned if i passed out, etc. nope. i was alone when this happened. rest of 100 folks came out after my fall.
if i get double vision, blurry; get to docs right away!
thank you all for your kind remarks and concern.
my typing is going to be off using this splint with the peace in bottom not letting me bend my hand well.
my uncle, 93, is passing away; so i'll look cute at funeral with my shades or double shades on and my floppy trademark hat.

OMG!
Betty, I'm so sorry, you poor thing!!
TC is right!! You'd better NOT do that again or I'll have to figure out a way to get all the way out there (wherever there is) and spank your behind!!!
I can't even find my way around the block right now, so just think of what you'd be doing to ME!! I'd be driving around in circles for the rest of my life!
Seriously, Betty-
I really am very sorry to hear that you are hurting. I do hope that you heal very quickly.
I'll keep you in my prayers.
Ali
I can't figure out how I missed your previous post, I'm so glad TC posted this thread. Thanks TC!

I had a question.. which MIGHT have made what you are doing against our rules here at Lyme Net.
It was about Holiday Inn paying you for all the posts you've done here and the mention of their name over and over.
That MIGHT be considered "advertising" ya know.
So I wondered... might Holiday Inn be paying our tutu for all the ads she is putting here?
But then I glanced down and saw your britches down around your ankles and figured... "probably not."
Ho Ho Ho....

Betty,
Thanks for clarifying for me about the post. I know I've been losing it lately, so that really did have me scared.
I guess my humor's a bit off lately too, sorry if you didn't find my post funny. I WAS trying to make you laugh.
I hope you're able to get some good rest tonight because that will help you heal.
If you're "an accident waiting to happen", you'd fit right in at my house. It's like a three-ring circus here, someone's always getting injured.
Then again, if hubby's not accident prone, you're probably much safer where you are.
Sending more hugs & prayers your way- Feel better soon! Ali

Dear Betty, I'm sorry to hear about your accident. When my friend Lynn is laid up with a bad back, we talk on the phone and she says, "Well, at least we still have our mouths!"
At least you can use the computer.
Last week my grandson left a rubber jumper thing on the floor and I carelessly stepped on it. It slipped and down I went, thinking as I fell, "I wonder how I'm going to land and whether I will break anything." It seemed to take a long time to hit the ground. I sprained a finger and my wrist hurt for a few days, plus a bruise on the backside, but luckily nothing broke.
Getting older, we have to be more careful.

tincup, was it diabetes that caused you to lose majority of your eyesight?? thx
got bad news tues. at eye spec.
i've got EARLY DIABETES RETINOPATHY for loss of vision and/or blindness! knocked the wind right out of me.
so need to get my blood sugars way down there and STAY THERE.
she had me do blood test that day so i asked for my 3 month, A1C, and she wanted 2 hr. after eating one.
got results today; a1c is 6.8; same as 2 mo. ago.
after eating 2 bananas it was 180; fasting was 147
so i'll need to contact diabetes dr. now and get involved heavily in that program.
i asked if i got my BS down, etc. could it change outcome; YES, it will slow down disease!
so keep me in your prayers please; i'd be lost being blink and not being here on LYMENET!!

Oh my goodness, girl!!!! You will be in my prayers for all the prayer requests, but especially the diabetes retinopathy.
I've been "out-of-commission" for past several weeks. I won't go into it now, but was very, very sad to come here and see the mishap and all you're going through!!!
Please take care, hurry and get well, O.K.? Oh, one other thing. It's very interesting that the ER nurse has a daughter with Lyme. I'm sure you had a very interesting talk and I'm sure she was very thankful to meet you and learn from you. Betty, even in your pain and agony from the fall, you are a blessing. God is using you to help others!
Sending very gentle hugs your way. Take care, hon!

So glad you are able to walk without pain now. I know that can take some time. I hope the other issues get resolved soon and you can get a more normal life back. We have so much on our plates already with this illness.
But what stands out is that I have not heard you complain even once???
