Did any adults with lyme here get Parvovirus B19 as adults and did it cause rheumatic disease
Did anyone have pain in the bones, and larger joints like ribs and elbows
If so could you describe you experience ie, did it hurt to walk or lay down and for how long

Christmas eve, 2002 I woke with a stiff neck (it would crack when I turned my head), by that night my left had was a claw, then my knee, then my shoulder, etc. I was in a lot of pain. The swelling moved from one random place to another.

Two days later when I could see a doctor, I was told that I had Parvo Virus and that as an adult, it would cause these problems.

I was also told that it could take upto a year to clear up and then was put on prednisone.

So, I toughed it out for almost a year and during that time, the pain would come and go, move from joint to joint. Hands (claws), shoulders (could not lift arm to put on shirt), elbow (big egg), knee (pain in back and on sides), and the worst place the bottom of my feet (where your toes meet). I could not stand or walk. Yes, pain in my side, sometimes my chest would feel like it was being crushed.

I was then told that I had adult onset RA and was put on the standard RA treatments, but none worked so I went on Enbrel (this took away most of my pain).

During this time, I started having other problems, neuro, etc.(voice changes, stiff man, trigger finger, anger every night), and I kept researching and kept comming back to Lyme.

However, all the doctors I went to said that there is no lyme disease in North Carolina and most would not test me. One did but the report was negative (did not give bands, just general test).

I then found Dr. J in NC and he saved my life, marriage, business, etc. I have tested positive for Lyme and for Babesia and have been treated for that and all co-infections.

I have also been tested by other LLMD other than Dr. J and have been treated by another LLMD because of the problems that Dr. J had in NC.

Ok, to try and further answer your question.

I tested positive for the Parvo Virus, so I most likely did have it, and it most likely caused my immune system to be unable to fight the Lyme that was already in my system and also then caused the RA type problems due to my immune system problem.

After a year and a half of symptom treatment for the Parvo Virus, and real treatment for the RA (my RA factor was in the high 60's), I started treatment for the Lyme. Note that when I was first tested for Parvo Virus my RA factor was normal. The RA problems kicked in sometime during the Parvo Virus treatment (or lack of).

It then took about 5 months of heavy abx treatment for the Lyme and then I woke up one day with a warming sensation through my body and the pain in my feet went away, and this was pain that would make a grown man cry. I then quit all the RA treatments and the foot pain did not come back.

I find that when I have a flair of the RA issues, my hand will still become a claw at times, that it takes about a full day to go away, but only after I load up on the Mino.

It is now 4 years later and I have been on oral abx, IV, injection's and back to oral abx. I have also done mild HBOT which I think really helps and Methly B12 injections.

Life is good. I have also found for me that daily use of minocycline and lodine keeps most of the inflamation in check and I can do anything. Run, Walk, etc.

However, if I try to go off the mino and other abx for even a few days, the joint pain comes back really fast. I also now believe that I have food alergies that I never recognized before. That testing will be done in October.

Good luck, and I hope the Parvo Virus is not masking some other problem (Lyme, Babesia, etc). Ask about mino and lodine for the inflamation. It has helped me.

I suffered for along time before finding that it was Lyme and getting proper treatment. I often wonder if the Lyme had been caught earlier, if it would not have become what I will term Chronic.

I wish this had spell check.

I had it at the age of 21, I guess 10 years ago. It was soooooo painful. I woke up one day and couldn't move my elbows....and didn't dare. And my neck, goodness it hurt!

It was actually this that my LD was diagnosed. I had to keep going in to have my blood checked and Lyme is a standard test they did. 8 months later, Lyme positive...then again, and again.

It took six months for the parvo virus to subside. It's a very nasty thing to have as an adult. My whole body hurt and my Rheum. Arth. was off the charts the whole time.
