I started Bicillin injections this week.
I really had no problem giving myself the shot & there wasn't any pain to speak of during the shot, I iced and numbed it pretty good before the injection. THEN the next day...omg I am so sore, it really hurts.
Now having done one shot on Mon and Thurs both sides are so sore. I can't imagine giving myself a shot again on Monday when I am still so sore on both sides from the shots.
Any tips to relieve the pain- ice, heat?
I have 2 LLMD's. One LLMD told me not to torture myself with these shots that Amoxicillin is the same thing in an oral version - this seems hard to believe. But I have enough pain as it is without this added pain and wonder if the shots are worth it and if Amoxi is the same if I should just stick with it.

I got a huge bruise from the first shot and a big lump. I couldn't sleep on that side for several days. I didn't take the second shot because I wouldn't have even been able to lay down. By the next week, when it would have been time for another shot in the first side, there is no way they could have found a place to give it to me (I'm small).
I told my LLMD that I wanted something different and am taking amoxy.
I WISH the shots worked for me! I hear people do very well on them, and I'm taking 15 pills of Amoxy plus 3 Probenecid daily in leu of the shots.
They do go after the same form of the Borrelia. I've been making progress without going to that kind of trouble ... it would have been different had I not been making progress. The objective was to try to give my GI tract a rest.

A number of people, myself included have found thatover time they seem to hurt less and less. I've been doing it three times a week for over four years and am rarely bothered by soreness.

Hey, you know what they say, ``No pain - No gain!''
You should be able to recover sufficiently on 2 shots a week. That's only once a week for each bun. What helped me was to hold pressure over the shot after it was over, and simultaneously walking around on it for 5 minutes (even tho it hurt to do so).
Exercise made a difference also in working the soreness out of the muscle (Walking). Sometimes that was difficult to do on the day after, but I always felt better afterwards.
Are you taking the weight off of the side that you are injecting before inserting the needle? I would put all my weight on one leg while leaning against the counter. You could just take one shot a week for 3 or 4 weeks to get yourself acclimated to the Bicillin. This might get them conditioned so to speak.
It's debatable as to whether Amoxy is as good as Bicillin. It can mess up your GI tract way more than Bicillin could, and it needs to be taken 3 to 4 times a day along with Probenicid. I think that this puts more of a load on your liver. People get good results with both. So as usual, there is no clear answer. There is good and bad about both regimes.

In early August I switched from high-dose amoxy to bicillin; first one shot/week and now 2 shots/week. Here is my experience briefly:
The pain from each injection lessens with time. The first couple of weeks I was really sore afterwards, it is getting better and easier. Maybe, as David suggested, your body adapts to the injections, or maybe we just get used to it? I don't know, but if you hang in there, you might find it getting better....
Amoxy definitely helped with some of my energy and cognitive issues. It improved my health. But bicillin seems to hit (that is, improve) some neurosymptoms that amoxy did not touch. I feel better and better on bicillin, whereas I plateaued on amoxy...I find bicillin much easier on my gut also. Hope that helps, best wishes.

Thanks so much for all your replies, sounds like if I hang in there, my poor rear end won't be so sore!! My muscles on both side hurt....hard to walk!
I have been on Amoxi for a long time and feel I have platued and am hoping the Bicillin (w/Biaxin) will do the trick.
The LLMD that said amoxi is the same, (everyone of you here has heard of him) it sort of angered me, because I know Bicillin has helped many and since it has a constant slow release around the clock, you'd think that would make it much better. Where as Amoxi is in and out of the body in a couple of hours, unless of course you use probencid.
Thanks for advice, tips and opinions - very much appreciated.
