I believe I have had Lyme for many years. After using all my powers of persuasion, I got my doctor to reluctantly give me a Lyme test. Much to my doctor's amazement it came back positive, yesterday. Now this doctor tells me all I need is two weeks of Doxycycline and that will take care of it. Has this happened to anyone else? What did you take to get better? I have felt BAD for years and have a laundry basket of symptoms--so many when I tell my dr. just some of them, my doc looks at me like I am a hypochondriac. I also am in a wheelchair because of all the pain in my body. My doc says it is gout. I am female and in my 40s and the ``gout'' came out of nowhere. Anyone else out there who has had any of these experiences? What do you do? Do I try to go to these Lyme special doctors or will I only be told 2 weeks of med. will do it by them too? I got the name of Dr. C in Springfield, thank you for sending it pineapple, but didn't know if I should go down there if he will tell me the same thing. I know you can't give medical advice, but can anyone tell me what their story is? I have been trying to get better for years. Thank you VERY MUCH!

No, a Lyme doctor will not tell you that you will be better in two weeks. My regular MD told me I had Somatization Disorder even in the face of a positive Lyme test.

Please, go see the LLMD. Anything that has not become permanent damage will heal.

I've been on various meds for 8 months and still have a long way to go. The positive side is, even though it takes a long time, it's better than the alternative of going downhill further.

I tested positive for Lyme April 07. The first duck to check my aches said it was arthritis, my next vist to a word by mouth Doc. said we have hit the jackpot, 100% sure of Lyme.

Started on obxs, SAID IT WOULD BE A LONG UP HILL BATTLE. MAYBE YEARS! Started on Cefuroxime,Hydroxychloroquine,Azithromycin,Acidophilus, and a high mg. of Vitiame E. This was a start and other obx have been added during the months that followed.

Many aches and pains have dissappeared for now, only my right leg and foot are still having a problem, burning in my toes and right foot.

This path of treatment seems to be working for me, but everybody is different.

No Dr. C. in Springfield will not discount your symptoms or positive test. I travelled quite a ways to see him in June.

I have been ill for a lot of years with a laundry basket of symptoms also, became disabled 8 yrs ago, basically housebound and have had some horrible days. I've seen lots of Dr's, had numerous conditions diagnosed and kept deteoriating, the past 3 yrs with neuro symptoms added to my list.

Dr.C diagnosed Lyme and I am under his care. I think this has been my root problem and am making slow progress. I still have a long way to go but think the correct problem is being addressed. Liz
